Teachable has been a great tool for selling courses and adding a second revenue stream to our business. Long story short, our main revenue stream is our SaaS and selling courses through Teachable as an upsell has been a perfect fit.
I signed up to Teachable in October 2024 and paid for their Basic membership, allowing me to upload up to five courses.I uploaded the first course without any trouble.But when I tried to add a second course, I got error messages at every step in the process and I was unable to proceed. None of the work that I did was saved.I submitted a ticket to their Support Team (and finding the page where to do is a story on its own!).Days later, they asked me to submit screenshots of the error messages that I received so they can fix the problem.I submitted everything in as much detail as possible. That was on Dec 27th. I understand it was the holiday period, but now it is January 7th, and they haven’t gotten back to me yet.
I have just started using it to create a new course. For the moment it looks intuitive and easy to use. Tons of resources to personalize your page and many options to add to your course. I'm only using the free plan for the moment but I'm upgrading for sure.
Teachable offers really excellent value for money. It's easy to set up and get started, and offers room for growth as your online school grows. While the sales pages aren't fully customizable, the company's service and efficiency makes up for it.For me, the absolute best part of using Teachable (aside from its affordability) is that it removes all the headache of managing student payments, recurring payments and taxes.I highly recommend Teachable for anyone who offers educational resources, classes and coaching online.
I launched my business on Teachable 3-4 months ago.Right from the start I was blown away on how many bugs in basic course creation and management flow they had. I was blocked almost on every stage, anywhere from submitting my tax information, to connecting Dropbox that contained my videos, generating and replacing subtitles, etc.Within just a few weeks I filed more than 20 bugs.I thought things were getting better, and I'm just having an unlucky start, but it just keeps getting worse.Every week some other basic functionality breaks. Recently they broke checkout pages with coupons, right before a weekend. Now public preview videos are no longer accessible to enrolled students and they have to rewatch them from scratch.... It just never ends.What's worse is the Support. You go above and beyond explaining the bug, taking screenshots, video recordings, writing extremely detailed descriptions... But Support take ages to even get to your tickets (and I'm on the Pro subscription), and when they do, they don't even read it. They just give you a stupid, canned response and make you the idiot.If you thought things can't get any worse, they did. Recently they started forwarding all issues that students have with payments, taxes and technical issues straight to the school owners. So now all Teachable bugs are our responsibility to handle and apologize for.I am still looking for another platform to migrate to, but if you considering Teachable, STAY AWAY. Even long time creators who have been using Teachable are pulling their hair.

I'm not sure Teachable even has a customer service department. A major issue occurred- the SSL certificates were rejected, and it was definitely their issue as I painstakingly went through every other step. My site was impossible to access. Three emails and nothing. After wasting days of work building a site, I'll probably have to got to another host and start building the course from scratch. Awful.
They keep stealing my money. I foolishly paid for an annual subscription and when (a few weeks later) I tried to cancel and ask for a pro-rated refund, they refused to give me a refund. Then, a YEAR later, I was charged AGAIN, even though I'd cancelled. I couldn't even talk to customer service at all because I wasn't signed up for their pro plan (they literally have no customer service for paying customers unless they're on the more expensive pro plan -- you can "email a support ticket" but they never reply). So I signed up for the pro plan in order to ask them for a refund. I explained that I'd been over-charged even though I'd cancelled, and they just said that because I'd signed up more than 30 days ago, they wouldn't refund me. I can't afford that expense right now, especially for something I'm not using. STAY AWAY from teachable.
Their UI is very hard to use. The video buffering is also horrible. I can comfortable watch 4K videos on YouTube but can't even watch 1 single video using 360p. For a platform that relies a lot on serving video, you'd think they make a great video buffering experience their priority. Better alternatives would be Udemy, LinkedIn or honestly anything else. WORST product I've ever encountered.

Support don’t respond via email for a billing issue… I’d tried several times. Guess I’ll have to escalate the refund with my credit card company I thought this was a good product… but if there’s zero support for students/ users and school owners … maybe customers should look at other products

The "Check Out" page on Teachable is a complete mess and never worked for me. I lost out on revenue because my students couldn’t complete their purchases. I've sent 10 emails and waited 3 weeks for support - they haven’t responded once! This lack of service and attention to issues is inexcusable. Avoid Teachable at all costs. It's a waste of time and money!

5 months ago I asked for the same support and I don't remember what I was told, but it was not helpful. As a school's primary owner with 13 authors and over 75 courses, this is a pain in the butt.However, today Pedro ROCKED this support and very quickly solved a mystery and a problem in just a few quick minutes. AND he added very detailed instructions to fix a problem that would arise after this current fix -- with a gif to help! Turns out, that problem never surfaced. Talk about proactive! So grateful!

I was registered to a school on teachable that went offline. I have sent countless messages to the owner and teachable for the past 3 months but no reply just an automated message every time. I had paid for the classes which i am entitled to and can’t get hold of anyone to solve the issue. And quality of the video streaming isn’t so good either i would have expected much more.
Dear teachable.You customer service policy is a piece of hidden/non-existing crap! I've had an account years ago and, but I lost access to that email address. Now I want you to delete all my data from the website and to unlink your connection from my stripe account. But it is impossible to do so since you're not allowing any messages to reach you from people who can't log in. So what are my options now? Register a new account? Report to legal services? Call the police???
