Pushy, predatory, rude. Sunrun is pushy to get an appointment with you. They are supposed to be giving you an estimate. They don't let you know in advance that they are going to start assigning you tasks. When you tell them that you have to work and you don't have time to jump through their hoops of fire, they start berating you, pushing you to do what they want, and then start asking you if there are other people you know who might want solar. They are evasive about asking questions when scheduling the appointment. They show all the signs of being predatory and trying to railroad you into their "program".
Customer service is the worst. They tell you someone will get back to you later in the day or call you back in 10 minutes and the don't. Try to get someone out to fix the WiFi and Sunrun wants me to sign a document wanting me to pay them $500+ to troubleshoot the system. It's got a 25 year parts/labor warranty so why do they want me to pay???I would suggest that you look for a different company for solar.
They are the worst. They have caused massive delays. My system was installed June 2023 and is still not operating. They provided inaccurate paperwork, they had a faulty knowledge of the city requirements and are unresponsive. All of these issues caused delays. I installed a system at a vacation house and used a different company. No problems with them Do NOT use Sunrun
My experience with SUNRUN has been very costly, time consuming and disappointing.SUNRUN installed my system 2019. Said they would come back and review system and make sure it was working correctly.I never heard back from them.I have called them several times regarding my production. I pay estimated $3,000 per year for my power on top of solar bill. Example 2024 I have only had one month that is produced more than I have used.Communication part went out is 2022. Cost me $300. not under warranty.Have called several times last couple of days-finally spoke with case manager and customer service. They do not guarantee production. They will not compensate for their system not producing enough. I went thru Costco and hope they can help.
I am following up on multiple inquiries made through Sunrun Customer care email. My system was malfunctioning back in August. At that time my air conditioner went out. The air conditioner technician notified me that the breaker in the subpanel installed by sunrun did not have the correct breaker. This may had led to the failure. I contacted sunrun and they sent out a technician approximately 1 month after the initial call. In the intern I had to replace the air-conditioning system as well as pay an electrician to place the correct breaker. I also had to pay the electrical company because my electrical bill was high because the system was not working correctly. I had the same problem back in May and I had to have the technician return and replace the breaker after the initial thought by the electrician was the freezer in the garage was tripping the system. I removed the freezer, yet I still had the problem. The technician had given me his number to call if I continued to have the problem. The problem continued, so came and replaced the main breaker that was tripping. Then in August the same problem happened. Now in September when the technician came, he had to get assistance on the phone from his colleague because he believed there was a problem with the Tesla system, and they had left him on the phone for over an hour. He was about to leave my home with the issue unresolved because he stated he timed out. I not sure what he did but he caused the electricity to complete go out in the home. Therefore, he stayed and after some assistance on the phone with his colleague he ultimately changed the same breaker Gabe had changed. At that point the power went back on. He would be back to change the breaker to the same one the system has but it should work for now. He stated sunrun would call me to schedule that. That call never happened. I also received a call the following day (9/20/24) and I was informed that sunrun would call me on tuesday which would have been 9/24/2024 to tell me how the system is working. I did not receive a call on 9/24/24 and It's been 4 weeks since I was supposed to get that call and I never have. I also called case representative office and let you know how I was feeling about the whole situation but never got a response. This has been extremely frustrating to work with a company who has no regard for the customer. I am paying into a system that has caused me multiple problems and damaged my home. The system was only installed a year ago and it continues to cause electrical issues which I never had in the past. I have sent all the receipts and pictures requested for my case that should be in my file case number. I really do not know what else to do but to seek legal action. I do not have confidence in sunrun anymore.
Let's just add one more dissatisfied customer to the ever-growing number of complaints. In 2022 I was advised by one of their third party contractors that two panels were inoperative. Every year they send out techs to test the system, and they agree to this fact. When they showed up this year, on or about July 2024, they again sent out their tester, and he too agreed, two panels are not operating. My latest bills for June, July, and A$148, $213, and $232. Where is their compassion for Seniors living on a fixed income? They Attorney General of NYS should stop them from doing business in New York.

Terrible experience. 1. The solar panels broke and they didn't even tell us. 2. Then we had a roof leak. Their scheduling and project management team is abysmal. It takes hours to to get through the meandering call tree and transfers between departments. The different departments don't communicate well. It's been over a year with half the panels stacked in the yard and the roof torn up. Roofers come out to fix it but don't do it right. Solar panel guys can't finish their job because roofers aren't done. It's weeks or months between each team's appointment. Avoid this company.
Sunrun started installing my system in March of this year, bit it is still not operational 6 months later after multiple installation visits to fix parts of the system and two failed county inspections followed by repairs. Beyond this technical incompetence customer support is non-existent, consisting of web chat with people who know nothing and can do nothing. Avoid at all costs is my advice.
My sunrunsystem stopped producing in December 2022. They JUST finished fixing the system. 2 freakin years of call after cal email after email. Was completely ignored. Had to break into an executive conversation on Linked to get any attention. Now they won,t reimburse me for my electric bills and i,m out $1500 bucks. They suck... run run run from sunrun.
We are in the process of building a Sun Run customer website to list all of the horrible experiences and stories that all of us have nationwide. They have no regard for customers and their ratings here show that, stay tuned if you are a customer so you can share properly, with the right advanced ad campaign we can at least get the word out faster than they can provide communication and service that we are all contractually obligated to receive. Sunrun is horrible to work with. It has been five months, paying on the solar system and yet to have the panels/battery operating. I get the same story "We are waiting on" insert excuse here. If you want Solar Panels and hear Sunrun, just RUN FAR AWAY!!!! The Tesla Battery also fell off my house, while I am waiting for it to start operating. So if you actually decide to use Sunrun be prepared to be intensely disappointed.
I explicitly asked if Sunrun would put a lien on the title of my house and they said no. The did and now it is impacting my ability to get a home equity loan. Additionally, the lease is for 25 years so think carefully if you ever plan to sell because you will have to convince a new owner to incur the cost or you will owe Sunrun a fortune.
Sunrun's Trina solar panels failed after 11 years (May, 2023) which was when I bought the house and took over the lease. It took 10 months, 4 no show appointments, 6 phone chats and countless emails before the panels were removed. To my surprise, 20 solar brackets were left on the roof; the tech said "you'll have to have those removed". $12,400 for a new roof. The saga got worse from there and is ongoing.
The very knowledgeable rep who discussed Sunrun in detail made it easy to understand solar how it works and how it works in your home. She covered everything from contact to installation. I felt very informed and comfortable signing contracts. The workmanship was timely and professional. I am waiting for energy company to do final inspection and start up. I have had several question which were answered quickly because rep knows about state laws. I am totally satisfied, actually more than satisfied with Sunrun
HORRIBLE SERVICE! The elderly owner of a system from SunRun has moved into a care facility. His home is being sold and we want to know the process for transferring the solar system to the next owner, BEFORE we need it, please! Three emails and two voice messages have produced nothing from the "Service Transfer Coordinator," Valentina V. I'm fit to be tied.Google “SunRun, litigation" and see what pops up.
I had the absolute worst experience with Sunrun . I cannot think about less pleasant contractor experience than I had with this company. The only part that went well is the initial sign up.From that point, the process was opaque and deeply unpleasant. When I had questions about my project, I would call the number provided. They would tell me they were going to get back to me, but this never happened. The project took over a year to complete. I received some compensation for the delay, but no one can compensate me for a year of poor service and frustration. I would recommend not contracting with Sunrun as I had.
Update: Sunrun escalated this to their team and really came through with flying colors. The person who I was dealing with really understood the problem and was a great listener. Not only that, but they made good and totally resolved my issue.What can I say that hasn't already been said about this horrible company? Sure, as long as everything is going fine you don't need to bother with them. But God forbid something happens with your system. My inverter apparently broke sometime in May. Apparently the system that they have in place for monitoring my solar production is a complete and utter failure. I was not made aware of the fact that I was not producing solar until late July. By that time I had racked up an LADWP bill of over $2000 for electricity! I called Sunrun Customer service and explained the situation and told them that I had the "performance guarantee". That guarantee, as any consumer would presume, was supposed to guarantee that my monthly lease payment insured that my equipment would be up and running efficiently and producing the right amount of solar energy. They offered me $24!!! I called and complained and was given a second offer of $200. Totally unacceptable! Their customer service absolutely sucks. Their performance guarantee is a joke. Their panels break often and easily. Their sales people tried to actually sell me additional panels in the midst of all of this happening. I'm taking them to small claims court. In the meantime, I would highly suggest you look elsewhere for a solar provider. There are certainly enough choices out there.
The Sunrun failed inspection seven times and they didn't do anything. It's been happening for about two years and they don't correct the issues. And the manager never picks up the phone or returns calls because too many complaints I guess. Choosing the Sunrun is the biggest mistake.
dont do it. got them thru costco....worse decision. we pay the same if not more and just added a middle man. they under estimated the number of panels...theres other reputable solar companies out there. seems we are the only ones with solar and still paying outrageous prices. everyone that owns solar...other tan sunrun have credit!!!!

“Was excellent, but not anymore”

I loved having solar and saving money. I did not buy it. SunRun got my rebates in return for the solar panels, so they own them. 5 years ago, I had a leak from the solar and they fixed it. They fixed it by cracking many tiles and put on different colored tiles which I was unaware of until a few months ago when I had my roofer come to check out a leak. He said it was the solar company. Sun Run for two months has given me the run around. They say it isn't under warranty. They own the panels! My roofer can't fix the leak because the panels are too low and there is not enough room. Huge bowls of water are coming in a bedroom upstairs. They used to be so good. I even gave many referrals. This is so ridiculous. I am still trying. They had two work orders and both were cancelled and closed without my knowledge. They say they will call me back, and they don't! Tip for consumers:I am going to read my contract. “Horrible Customer Service”

Pt 1. These guys re the worst. They are sloppy and they ghosted me when I tried calling them about a huge error they made to my house. Instead of ghosting me, the customer, paying, they never returned my calls and it took them 2 weeks to take care of the problem. They lied about what they were going to do and then they never did it. DO NOT use these guys. Very unprofessional. So glad I found this site, so if I notice any of the problems that some of the post here state, I wont be surprised. “Sunrun is the worst solar company out there”

Sun run is by far the worst solar company out there they have no idea how to run a business it's all about making money to them. I was very reluctant to put solar panels on my home because of the way they look but their sales rep convinced me that I would save a significant amount of money every month if I Went with solar so I reluctantly did. It's been six months now and whether it's summer or winter I am paying Consistently more every month than. When I contacted customer service they Assured me that my system was running perfectly and that I signed the contract. They have no explanation as to why I am paying more every month I asked them to remove the panels from my home and they told me no I asked them to send somebody out to reevaluate that I have the correct amount of panels on my home and they wanted to charge me $200 to do so. They have offered no solution to my problem other than you signed the contract. Thank you sunrun For completely ripping me off and having no regret about it whatsoever. Buyer beware

“Not happy solar system needs 24 panels & 2 battery not 12 panels, 1 battery.”

Got 12 panels (490 watts), 1 tesla battery 13.5, i turn on 2 air cond. 1 is 12 btu, 1 is 18 btu turn both on at 10pm battery is out of energy by 3:am, Not happy at all! Would need 2 batteries to make them work not informed of this at time of selling. After wards was told by seller put temp. At 72° thats hot i want cold 60°. Keep this in mind at time of purchase.
