My wife and I were treating very bad this morning on our way from Zürich to Paris by two of their employees. We had a 9:30am trip with our reservation made a month ago but we had difficulty activating one of our daily Eurail pass due to low quantity of Wi-Fi in the train. We were fined 100 euros, along with a lot of threats to have us paid the full price or being arrested. As a black couple, we were very embarrassed and felt threatened by them. At one point, she asked me not to say one word as she was reaching to something. My wife was very scared and promptly gave her our credit card. They were all about punishing which seemed to be very racial biased because they were kind, respectful and helpful to others white customers. As soon as we got to Paris, we went straight to their office and we had the fees refunded. We had such a great time there but this incident really messed up everything.
Bloody scammers, we bought tickets for their train 2 years ago, and until today we are not able to get the refund because they train got cancelled due to a strike. Has anyone sued them yet ?
I bought a ticket, and it was extremely expensive—more than most domestic air tickets. The staff is unhelpful, unfriendly, and lacks a service-oriented attitude. I do not recommend SNCF. Avoid it if you can!
Bought three Paris to Geneva return tickets through Rail Europe. One traveller unfortunately passed away. I requested Rail Europe to cancel his ticket. Sent them copy of Death Certificate. According to Rail Europe SNCF refusing to refund money to my credit card. (EuroStar refunded the money). They sent me a travel voucher which is of no use to me.I hope, like EuroStar, SNCF would show some humanity.
Terrible service. Missed my connection to TGV inouï (Lyon-cdg) because the regional train (TER) from Grenoble to lyon was 40 min late. Had to rebook on a tgv inoui Lyon to paris because there was no more train to cdg. Then, had to spend 45 min on the rer to get to CDG. Got there 2.5 h late. Was told to request compensation on the sncf website. Not an easy task. I figured how to do it, then I get “not eligible” for compensation because compensations are limited to travel via TER and/or tgv inouï, exactly what I was booked on. So it made no sense.Of course you cannot contact then by email, and there no toll free number to contact them
Worst transport company ever! Went to Paris during the Olympics and was treated like a criminal and fined 60 euro for having a foot on the seat. The conductor said there were signs but that’s not true, no compassion from any of the staff at SNCF, avoid the service and get a car instead.
I spent a week in France in Cagnes sur Mer and of the 9 trains I took 1 was on time. By on time I mean 5 minutes late because that's as near to on-time as you can get. Four were over half an hour late and one was over an hour late. They just don't care!Update: After writing this review my next train was 20 minutes late. Considering trains run every 30 minutes on this line their propensity to screw up beggars belief.
The air temperature in the cabin was awful, at least 24 and in the middle of Aug. I asked twice for it to be altered, which the man said he would do, but nothing happened. I was sweating as was the person on the seat near me. It’s not rocket science to know that a comfortable ambient temperature is 20/21, however this train was hellishly hot and nothing was to be done about it.Moreover there are no fans to even cool yourself with as on an airplane. The food options are Haribo, some other unrecognizable confectionery and despicable tea. I was in first class and cannot imagine what the poor souls in the level below were experiencing. Avoid at all costs ideally, or, at least take a strong fan unless you’re prepared to lose a few kg in sweat - weight that you’ll gain as soon as you rehydrate. It’s a no win scenario
Cancelled our expensive trip from Spain to France the night before departure with an E-mail in french after midnight. In the email it says due to a obstracted track, and in the ticket app it’s due to weather conditions. I can see from the reviews that we should never have booked with them in the first place, will make sure to never ever do again.
Went from Toulouse to Lyon and once the train started we were then told the air conditioning wasn’t working and it was 34c so very uncomfortable and we only offered 1 bottle of water.All other carriages had air conditioning except ours.They offered compensation of £15 euros for a 4 hour trip which cost £94 for two people in the form of a voucher which is useless if you are a overseas visitor.would not recommend them to overseas travellers
We were visiting Paris from the UK for the Olympics. We needed to buy a ticket to Asnières sur Seine at the crowded métro station at Stade de France, and a volunteer there told us what ticket to buy. It turned out to be the wrong ticket. SNCF ticket inspectors on the train told us we had the wrong tickets despite our assurances that we had been given the wrong information insisted on fining us €35 per person and threatening us with the police. They were shockingly rude and inflexible, especially given we were from out of the country and didn't understand the system. And all for a price difference of less than €2. They didn't seem to understand about how you're supposed to be welcoming visitors to your city, not persecuting them.
Absolutely dreadful customer service. Baggage deposit and objets trouvés at Paris l'Est claims to be mulitlingual but populated by jobsworths so the baggage deposit man won't handle lost property and vice versa. The lost property man has been missing in action for 20 mins with no other person waiting. Eventually someone came along when finally the man in charge of baggage phoned the women who handle objets trouvés. The baggage deposit was full but the man behind the desk was extremely unhelpful and stayed behind his desk instead of actively helping people to find another place. Disappointing
Trains are always late old, disgusting and unsafe. Staff is some of the worst I've ever seen and will literally treat you like criminals.
Worst transport company I've ever used in my life, the trains are always late, the prices are higher than the competition in other nearby countries, without any justification. Once it took me 6 hours to get from Cannes to Menton Garavan, they changed at the last minute and decided not to go to my stop, making me walk 2.5 km in the middle of the night.
I visited Paris for the Olympics. After an event at the Stade de France, I bought a ticket from an attendant at the ticket office, specifying the station where I wanted to go. I unknowingly travelled one stop further than my ticket zone allowed (but to the destination I had asked for) and offered to buy the correct ticket once I found out (and which I thought I had done to begin with). Instead I was threatened and treated like a criminal by a group of 5 ticket inspectors who surrounded me on the platform. I was forced to pay a fine of €35 for a difference of €2 (which I had been trying to pay all along). This is nothing less than shameless intimidation and extortion by SNCF staff, exploiting visitors to the city. I travel regularly and have never been made to feel more unwelcome.
you have to reserve seats and it says everywhere that you can easily change or cancel your reservation up to 30 minutes before departure. If you want to chance your travel date, you have to make a new reservation and cancel the old reservation. Then you try to get your money back from the first reservation but that is impossible. Bought online you have to cancel online (they say at the train station). You have to download the app and make an account. But then it reveres you outside the app to ask your money back, but that gets stuck. All the time when you upload your ticket. Even when it is a small size. When you phone the number on the ticket is SNCF it is out of order. This spoils my holiday. A lot.
If you are travelling from abroad, DO NOT book any SNCF tickets if you can avoid it. Their quality of service is just the worst you could think of, you will loose around 1h if you need to change a ticket or if you missed a train because the previous one arrived too late. I really can't foresee how SNCF is going to supply to Olympics demand.
As an international traveler the helpdesk kept me on call on purpose to let me pay phone money. In the end they hang up on me after advising me to travel with flixbus. Worst support for any company I ever experienced. Even DB is much better. Let alone the balkans, I found using public in the balkans way easier and the people more supportive. Western europe should be deeply ashamed for the fact countries with way less CCP dot it way better in public transport.

I made an order for my bag to be picked up and delivered from Clermont-Ferrand to Paris its been 3days sncf still has not come pick up the bags...I'm supposed to move out of my apartment, I already booked à flight out of the city...this company logistical situation is à nightmare I will not advise anyone to use it...I am still trying to figure out how to cancel the whole thing and get my money back
