newegg.ca Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives newegg.ca a medium-high trust score on the platform: 72.5. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Standard. Valid. Common.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this score? We came up with the 72.5 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to newegg.ca's industry. The algorithm detected a low risk for activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors noted in the Standard. Valid. Common. tags above. Long story short, this site's trust score still warrants a little caution. Use common sense when using this website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning newegg.ca, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between newegg.ca and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of newegg.ca. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of newegg.ca, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. newegg.ca is a likely trustworthy website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether newegg.ca has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether newegg.ca boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, newegg.ca.

I don't know know why ratings are so low for this company. Only had excellent service and prices are the lowest. For sure, I always try to buy from local shop first, but for online PC parts retailer? They are number one in Canada. Maybe they confuse them with the US one, or they bought from the marketplace. I once bought from the marketplace, got sent a fake WD SSD (even said Western Digital on the box!). You know what they did? Sent me a prepaid shipping label and gave me full refund!!
I'm very surprised to see such a low rating for Newegg, but I expect a lot of this is to do with third party sellers the same ones you can find on Amazon and Best Buy and other places. I've been shopping with Newegg since 2007. That doesn't mean I buy everything I want from them, but they're always one of the top 3-4 vendors I'll check for pricing and when I do I always toggle ON the setting SOLD BY NEWEGG which immediately guarantees I'm buying directly from them. Over the years I've bought 4K UHD PC drives, computer graphics cards, CPUs, RAM, motherboards, fans, cables, adapters, hard drives and even WiFi routers. I've never once had an issue with the products I've received or with Newegg. Thousands of dollars over the past 15+ years and never a single issue. I've helped friends build their PCs and upgraded mine multiple times, in fact I'm shopping for a new graphics card right now and they're leading the pack for the 4060 Ti card I'm looking for.
Been using Newegg Canada since it's inception and was a customer of Newegg before they branched out. Never had any issues with orders, even got rebates if something I bought went in sale the same week by contacting customer service. Only qualm is their prices aren't always the lowest, but that's why you shop around.
Never had any issue with newegg.ca directly. They ship fast, the prices are usually better then most others places (even amazon.ca) and support is fine. Items are always well packaged and in perfect condition. I rarely buy from the marketplace except from well reviewed local vendors.
Ordered a HDMI to mini display port cable. Does not work. After 44 days of back and forth emails, theirs in mostly incomprehensible gibberish posing as English, still not close to getting a refund. Example of approach of this company? Asking for a video proving the part being dysfunctional.
After a recent order we had issues with a product. Chat support vas very quick, available and helped us with issues. Was little complicated to finalize the return but at end we ended up ordering another same product and we are satisfied.Thank you for your support after sale.Sincerely
I bought several items from this scam of a website a few years ago, one came damaged and others didn’t arrive at all. I had to deal with customer service a lot, and they were absolutely worthless; unhelpful and rude. The amount of work I had to put in in order to have a damaged item replaced (even though I ended up buying the replacement elsewhere) and getting a full refund was far too much. About halfway through the process I resorted to getting help from the BBB and PayPal, which I believe only worked because PayPal was able to directly pull money from the company for me.
Extreme review suppression. I can count multiple listings where people have reviewed it as 1 star yet it will not show their written review. I have 2 reviews which have not been posted after 2 months. Obviously if consumers are critical of their listings, they will not let you know about it. disgusting
Terrible experience. Bought three items from this website, two did not work when arrived after two weeks. Took another two weeks to send back the defective products. They denied to refund full amount and charged me restocking fee as they insisted one is not defective. Customer services are never helpful. The fastest response you get is when they charge you.
I've ordered from them a few times and I always find their prices to be similar to and sometime below other sources of the same items, shipping times are good and the products are as advertised. Their customer service seems to be a bit slow (either too long coffee breaks or understaffed or maybe I just picked bad times) but seems to handle things well enough. They are my default go-to place for the types of items they carry although I always check around before making the purchase which usually seems to end up with them. Often when their price is slightly higher it's counterbalanced by a lower shipping cost. You should be aware that sometimes the items are not from NewEgg.ca itself but from another vendor which may result in a different experience.
Worst customer service ever. They lost my order worth $2,000. I've tried to reach them about ten times. With 30 minutes of waiting each time to explain my case again. I finally decided to file a complaint and they finally reimbursed me without any compensation or commercial action. I really don't recommend this site which doesn't care about its customers.
The computer arrived, but it was missing the keyboard that was supposed to come with it. When I messaged support, they were incredibly unhelpful. They basically told me that they couldn't just send me the keyboard separately, and all they were willing to do was refund $30 off my total purchase price (which was over $2,000!) I'm sorry, but if it was THEIR screw up not shipping me the correct parts, then they should be OBLIGATED to send me the missing items. I definitely will never shop here again.
Ordered a TP-Link 52 port switch for an upcoming project where installation resources were scheduled 4 days later. Paid extra for 2 day shipping. Checked the tracking the next day and saw it was scheduled to be delivered in 6 days. Contacted Newegg and was told they only ship ground and the agent strangely refunded my shipping without my asking them to do so. When I asked for them to rush me a replacement 2 day shipping and I would refuse the other one they repeated they only ship ground, which again makes me ask why they offer 2 day shipping to the other side of the country knowing they can't do it. When I requested they pay for half of the penalties I'll incur they offered me an additional $50.00 which I refused as I had asked them to at least meet me halfway on the penalties and I wasn't interested in half measures.
I ordered a ZTE Axon 7 after deciding that an iPhone 4s wouldn't do it anymore, and Newegg.ca made it easy. At first I was nervous after reading reviews here, but it all worked out great! All costs were outlined in the shipping proceedures, and the item arrived on time. No messing about with it being in stock when ordered but delayed because it was "Out of Stock" when finally shipped. I'm not saying this doesn't happen to people, but I think it gets slightly exaggerated because people tend to only write reviews when they're angry about poor service. Just my two cents.
Newegg will be a continued source of my shopping needs. They are always willing to help out with your order and questions. Just recently something had gone wrong with my order. All I needed to do was call them and, without hesitation, they fixed the issue perfectly. Great customer service and great deals too!
They are misleading description of product. I created case and inform first day of delivery, then send them back box. They refuse Refund full, offered cut %15 of full amount illegally. I push them with Consumer Law examples, they accept full refund. Next day I receive notification email for send me another product as replace without informing me.I told them, don't send me another one, just send my money back as you confirm.they lose wrong package on the way, and now not sending money back to me, more than 1 month passed.they are acting customers as foolish.
I received a Gift Card for Christmas and was looking forward to spending it at newegg.ca. I live in a somewhat remote area, but we have a Canada Post office here and I have never had anyone charge me $84 dollars for shipping something that weighs a few grams and fits in a small Xpress Post envelope. I will use my gift card, but never use newegg.ca ever again and actively inform people of there rip-off rates for shipping.

Paid $314 for a pair of SDRAM's from Newegg.ca The envelope delivered by Purolator had a broken plastic SDRAM package inside with half the contents missing. Newegg said it was delivered completely yet the weight of the envelope I received with the missing SDRAM was not less than what Purolator said the package weighed when they got it from Newegg. Multiple polite responses about reviewing the case from Newegg Canada but no followup and no refund.
Don't buy anything of value from Newegg.ca if you expect a hassle free replacement policy.I bought a new laptop on sale from newegg.ca and had to send it in for replacement immediately due to backlight bleeding.Newegg happily accepted the return, only to deny the replacement (claiming it was out of stock). Then on the same business day, they posted the exact same laptop on their website (new listing), with a $900 increase.I believe they intentionally did not honor the replacement due to the sale being close to over.I spoke to chat (online and phone) including a supervisor, and they couldn't help me reach a reasonable solution.Shady practices. Honestly, just buy from almost anywhere else.

“Terrible Customer Service”
DO NOT order anything from Newegg! Out of 8 items I bought from them, one was delivered to the post office, not my house, one arrived damaged (From the factory, NOT in transit) and they're refusing to issue a refund until they receive it back (even though it's shipped and they have the tracking number), and one has a tracking number that says there is no item associated with it, I haven't received any updates on it for two weeks, and now they're going to take another week before they even look into it. I'm down over $600 in items I don't have. Tip for consumers:Don’t use this site Products used:Computer Parts (RAM, CPU, AIO water cooler, Motherboard, etc.)
“$#*!ty customer service”
Wife ordered me a pc for my birthday they sent us the wrong pc worth half of what it was suppose to be sent it back the communication was terrible never told us when they were picking up pc was suppose to be replaced after weeks of waiting finally hear back saying there refunding my money and could take 2 weeks i needed the pc to do my jib this has set me almost 2 months back at work thanks newegg never again Tip for consumers:Dont use this site Products used:Nothing Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Despite occasionally making me think of ending my own life, this site is awesome!”
This site is amazing, I constructed a nice streaming pc with it. Everything was in perfect condition until I buy a monitor. When I got it, there were the good old black oozes down the screen, power it on and BOOM, broken screen. I contacted the seller and nothing ever happened. I'd recommend using Newegg for computer parts, and phones, but not monitors.
“Last time I will order from Newegg”
Over the years, I have ordered through Newegg. A total of handful items for computer components and related peripherals. I never had any problems until my last order where I needed to cancel my order. The cancellation was within hours and it was accepted but I incorrectly selected store credit (new egg purchase) rather than credit card of purchase. I emailed immediately using the same email communication for the return. My request was denied - they were unforgiving. So I am now unforgiving. Lesson learned I hoped from both parties. Good bye Newegg. And to those other customers out there, hope you have a better experience and as always "buyer beware". Did I use the store credit? Yes but took time and felt forced to use it - took over a year to find something I needed (and it was more than their competition). Tip for consumers:Be sure you choose the right item, not very accommodating on how it is returned. Products used:SD ram, mother board, UPS, etc. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Careless client support, stolen items”
I bought PC items for 3000$ on NewEgg Canada and the carrier (Purolator) just delivered the package in front of my door on the road as I was not at home. The packages were obviously stolen. I contacted Purolator who told me to check with the neighbors or if the package was not carefully hidden by the carrier. This was not the case, and Purolator eventually confirmed that they just put the package not hidden at all, and that I needed to see with Newegg for next steps. Newegg issues 2 claims but denied it eventually (no email, I needed to call to get some news) because "it has been correctly delivered". However when you check their Canada delivery policy page it is written carriers MUST check if they can put the package in a safe place. So they are just not consistent & honest with that. Updates: after getting a police report and advice from the OPC I reissued a claim. Which was denied all the same by NewEgg. Besides, Purolator had the nerves to send me a survey to measure my satisfaction, but when I clicked on the link, I had a message saying that it was a mistake that they sent the survey to me. Tip for consumers:Avoid any delivery on Newegg requiring Purolator. Do not expect Newegg to help you with delivery services or give you any clue of their denying logic. If you do use Newegg, even if they tell you that the delivery will happen in 10 days, stay all days at home until you get your package to catch it immediately once delivered, if it happens to be delivered. Products used:Nothing yet since I have only received 1/5 of my PC components, the ones that cost less than 10% of what has been stolen. Service Shipping Returns
“Newegg Shady Practices”
Recently I've been thinking about that time I clicked on a checkbox that said "Free Item" and how it was used against me to steal $50. This is when Google was giving every retailer a ton of these Alexa clones (Echo) out for FREE with other orders. Well, it's FREE, why not, right? Problem was, I never received the product I ordered. I got the Alexa clone I didn't really care about, but not the original item. So I had to get a refund, but they took off $55 for the Echo! To this day, Newegg has failed to send me a refund for the money they took from me. There was no disclaimer stating that I would be held liable for a "FREE" item for $55. They gave me credit which I didn't want to use, given that I don't expect my next order to arrive, let alone come without hidden customer liabilities. I spent hours on chats when it happened but never got my money back, so I eventually gave up. I just wanted to repost my story for anyone thinking of buying from Newegg: don't! Tip for consumers:Horrendous experience throughout. Products used:None, I never got my order and didn't give a damn about the addon. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Awful support and shady business practices.”
Do not buy anything from newegg.ca if you expect a food return / replacement policy. I bought a laptop on sale from newegg.ca on sale, and unfortunately had to send it in for replacement. The laptop was deemed okay for replacement, then I received an email a couple of days later saying that I would be issued a refund because the laptop was now out of stock. Just to be clear, I verified that the laptop model showed as in stock on neweggs website while their staff had the original laptop in their possession. No one thought to put an in stock laptop aside for me. On the same business day that I was denied the replacement due to the item being out of stock, newegg.ca reposted the exact same laptop on a new listing. The new listing was no longer on sale and had a price increase of close to $900. Newegg staff intentionally did not replace the laptop because they would lose money. Almost a bait and switch. Fully incompetent. After about a dozen chats with online and phone support, including speaking to a supervisor multiple times, I was told the item was both in stock and not in stock... But that they definitely will not issue a replacement. TLDR: Don't expect Newegg returns to go smoothly. Tip for consumers:Don't shop with newegg if you expect hassle free replacements.
“Completely Incompetent”
I ordered PC hardware and it had the incorrect shipping address - tried to cancel my order 2 minutes after placing it and couldn't cancel. Called them and asked to update the shipping address the next day, they told me to call back once it shipped. Called back once it shipped and they said they changed the address with the courier. Called the courier the next day, it was shipping to the wrong address and I couldn't change it, only Newegg could. Shipment was delivered to the wrong address. Neweggs solution? Have UPS come pick up the package from the wrong address and refund me (but not shipping costs!) Awful. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Good price, fast shipping and alot of product in stock”
I always like to order on newegg.ca this is probably one of the best website to order computer items. I rarely go to a store for those product, they are always over priced but newegg seems to have the best price. The chat box is always there to help if you need help. I love it! Tip for consumers:I think its a 15% or 20% fee for returns, beware of this. Products used:cpu intel Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Fast shipping and good prices”
Bought gaming headphones on the website, arrived in 3 days all good. I like the interface of this website as well
“Newegg refuses to replace a faulty MoBo”
A horrible experience with Newegg.ca They refused to replace my newly purchased Gigabyte motherboard claiming that I have "bent the CPU socket pins" and that this was beyond warranty. I have assembled many computers in the past and never had problems with CPU sockets. It's easy: You line up the 2 small protrusions on the socket with the 2 notches on the CPU, make sure the CPU lies nice and flat on the socket, and finally push the lever down gently and lock the CPU in place. Upon returning the MoBo I did notice 2 pins bent (out of hundreds of them intact), but this could not have possibly been a result of mishandling since there would be a whole bunch bent; it was defective in the first place. I should have read their reviews before purchase!
“Honest lists and Good deals”
1. [Honest lists] Dead NCIX's item price always listed confusing: Clicked an $100 item but the actual price was $150 and $50 mail in rebate. Searching products too hard because the confusing lists. Newegg always list item price at before mail in rebate. 2. [Good deals] Cheap PC things. 3. I give four star because their refund policy is somewhat uncomfortable.
“Early response, then NOTHING!”
As I've said before, your company doesn't even warrant 1 star! In spite of early response then Requests for details (which I provided), nothing further. Totally unbusinesslike!
“Great Prices, Worth A Try”
I've purchased a computer, harddrive, usbs, mouse, led board and many other things from Newegg.ca. I've always had good luck although some patience is required. I only order items shipped from Newegg and everything has taken slightly longer than I thought it would be but still completely reasonable. This is a site I don't hear mentioned very often, but I would say if you'd like a great bargain this is worth it.
“Bad customer service”
A good company takes care of its customers when things go wrong, newegg does not do this. I've been a customer for about 10 years. I'd think that means they value my business. But when I didn't get a package, they ignored email for 5 days, then brushed me off. UPS only deals with the seller, but newegg won't help. Great way to chase me away. Tip for consumers:I advise buying from other sellers. Their service has really gone down. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Buyer be aware”
Horrible experience. I bought a refurbished laptop from their site, spent close to $1000. When I tried to set it up (gift for Christmas) the screen would go black and stop. Contact them, eventually get then to take the item back but they issued me a store credit instead of refunding me the money. I did not want a store credit, I want my money back. They told me the item was non-refundable and non-replaceable. How can you sell a defective product and not refund it? Never using them again.
“Newegg Nightmare experience”
I have purchased a lot of things online and have never had so much trouble in my life. Newegg has a fancy website but the problems I had trying to buy a simple laptop mean I will never deal with them again. Their inflexibility and verification system had me on the phone with them at least five times in 7 days, live chatting and finally cancelling my order with no resolution. My daughter will not have a laptop to start the school year given the runaround they put me through and lost time. Newegg is a nightmare stay away if you want to preserve your sanity!
“Computer Hardware”
Can't say I've had any problems with them. They have good deals every now & than which I buy & add to my Desktop. A good dealer overall. Tip for consumers:You may encounter returns or exchanges due to defective equipment. I've not experienced this but other's have. Not sure how every case is resolved. Products used:Built a new Desktop for gaming. So all components. Service Value Shipping Quality
“Constant mass emails and automatic resubscription to them”
Newegg is great, our company makes many hardware purchases from it. The prices are competitive and we have not had issues with shipping. However, this year Newegg started automatically subscribing you to their mailing list after each order has been placed, and you have to unsubscribe each time. We've reached out to Newegg to permanently unsubscribe but they refuse to. It disappoints me that Newegg is not respecting a loyal customer's wishes about not to be spammed daily by their mass emails, and are not truly supporting the ability to unsubscribe. “Great deals all the time”
No issues with this store at all, always happy with price and shipping. I can usually find good deals and I like it because there are reviews informations too.
“I bought a lot of computer parts a year back or two,...”
I bought a lot of computer parts a year back or two, they had very fast delivery. It actually only took about 1 week for my computer parts to come in. I ordered a new GPU, 4 external fans, and a new power unit for an upgrade of my computer. They all came nicely on time and also nothing was broken. Really recommend this site if anyone is shopping for online computer parts. Although I recommend people to always, find the cheapest online and price match it at the local computer stores near you!
“Ordered 5 or 6 different items over the past few years”
Ordered 5 or 6 different items over the past few years. Good prices & well packaged. All items arrived in reasonable time and in new condition. No defects. Never needed to use customer service.
“I have bought various items from the site over the...”
I have bought various items from the site over the last year or two. In Canada, this is the best online store for computer parts. The only competition I could find was maybe a local Canada Computers (however the prices are a bit higher). If you can manage to find free shipping or you group together a lot of purchases, then newegg has a better overall price. I've built/repaired/upgraded a few computers using parts from newegg, very few of them were defective (defective products are always a possibility).

Bought a coffee grinder three years ago and was pretty satisfied with the service, shipping and product.

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. After testing several fraud prevention products online, we could certainly say the winner is a browser extension called Guardio. It automatically blocks 100x more harmful websites than competitors and 10x more malicious downloads than any other security tool. It was tested and vetted by our Scam Detector team.
Guardio has over a million users, and while it is already affordable for the benefits it provides (just a few dollars a month), it covers up to 5 family members. How To Stop Third Parties From Tracking Your Devices
The second most powerful fraud prevention tool you should consider is Surfshark. Here is why you should get it now, as the first 5 months are free:
- They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.
- They will notify you when your personal info is leaked online so you can delete your private data from the Internet immediately.
- Surfshark has a super powerful antivirus program. It offers you effective protection from viruses and zero-day threats, a lightweight, clean, and easy-to-use app, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Check this: They hide your online searches, which means you will get only organic search results without tracking and follow-up ads. For example, when you search for a flight, and the next time you look at the same search, the prices are higher. With Surfshark, this doesn't happen.
