mcmaster.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives mcmaster.com a medium-risk trust score on the platform: 68.4. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Known. Vetted. Low Risk.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this score? We came up with the 68.4 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to mcmaster.com's industry. The algorithm detected a slightly lower risk for activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, noted in the Known. Vetted. Low Risk. tags above. Long story short, we recommend staying vigilant and using common sense when engaging with this website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning mcmaster.com, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between mcmaster.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of mcmaster.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of mcmaster.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. mcmaster.com is likely a safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether mcmaster.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether mcmaster.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, mcmaster.com.

I placed an order with this company of a few hundred dollars value.I then received a short curt email reply that informed me that my order had been cancelled, no explanation, no apology, just cancelled. When I enquired futher I was told it was the import costs into Australia of which on the amount is next to nothing. I informed them it was incorrect and was then told they do not ship to residential address. I responded by telling them my business is registered, hoods a tax number and does indeed share an address which my dwelling is also on, seperate to my factory.I was then told I was not a suitable "End user" for them to do business with.So I advise to avoid this fools.
Set up an account, ordered via invoice payment method. CC was requested, added CC and paid by CC. Placed a second order via invoice. Order was cancelled and was asked to pay by CC. Paid by CC. Asked why invoice service didn't work. Credit issue? New account issue? Abrupt and evasive customer service reps, misanthropic weirdo vibes.Huge catalog, great website structure, drawing files are a huge help, shipping is fast, transaction emails with fulfillment details are robust. Prices all over the map. Shipping is obviously a profit center so they can front run artificially-low prices. Small bag of plastic plugs that could ship for 4 bucks cost 25 bucks ground. Not overnight, not 2-day. Bald-faced greed.tl;dr: no frills, dehumanized, rip-offy experience. Low-tier version of Uline but for fasteners not boxes. If they upped their game on CS, fair shipping rates and easy automated low-limit credit terms, they'd be able to command slightly higher-than-comfortable prices like Uline through high performance and excellence. Right now their value proposition is scraping 3d drawings and buying somewhere else.
I have ordered from McMaster before and never had a bad experience. If anything , the shipping was super fast in 2 days. To me that's fast considering the amount of orders they have to fill daily. When I need an odd part that's hard to find anywhere, MCMaster will always have it. Recently, they stood behind a product that I bought a couple of years ago. I am not saying that they can always do that but considering my situation and how the product should've lasted a lot longer they replaced it, no questions asked. BTW, the product failing was not any of MCMaster's fault. It was the manufacturer's job to step in but they instead stepped up and provided a great customer experience. Thanks to Cindy for facilitating this quick process!
To whom it may concern : Will call team member Tommy Ortega is the most processional / talented / nicest person at this McMaster Carr location , he’s all over the place very Knowledgeable, respectful among other things that I Might be missing out , I’ve been coming here for over a year and not once he’s made a mistake or left any thing out from all the orders that we have placed . Thumbs 👍🏽 up and keep up the good work Tommy !!!Sincerely : A very happy customer 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Customer service is arrogant and unprofessional. Shipping policies are absolutely mental, I don't think they want business? Products are equally poor. Received a rusted and bent bar that looks as though I could have bought off of Ali-x for a 5th of the cost. All kinds of stupid rules regarding shipping. They are not customer centric. No reason to do business with them at all, deleted my account. So many other companies deserve my patronage more than this one. Hope this saves someone some trouble.
Industrial supplier for just about any mech/engineering/mfg part in the world. Prices reflect quality parts, not cheap imports. I can be reassured that I'm getting a genuine part that will hold up to engineering specs (for example- fasteners are excellent quality and hold exact tolerances, no cheap big-box import stuff). Everything is easy to find, orders can be split up by PO or job type. Fulfillment/Shipping is an example of how pefect a system can run. I've made hundreds of orders and NEVER had a mistake or quality issue. Not the cheapest by any means, but my timeline and sanity are worth the tiny extra cost.
I've been using them since before smartphones when their website was THE place to go to search for my nuts, screws, bolts needs. Incredible detailed drawings so you knew what you were purchasing. And now via smartphone they shined again with one day delivery with regular ground price.
I've been using McMaster-Carr for years. They always have the bolts and other hardware that no one else has. They also have very good pdfs with dimensions as well as CAD renderings. These are very important when your building prototypes and trying to figure out what may or may not work on a one off project. The best part is you get them either the next day or the following. Highly recommend!
McMaster Carr believes Australia is a dangerous destination. McMaster Carr decided that a 5mm nut driver and other hand tools are strategic items. That they are prohibited from shipping to Australia. They have gone mad or very lazy. They can not fill in a CN22 probably less than 10 words.
As far as MRO suppliers go they are the best! Pricing is usually in line with other MRO suppliers & their online catalog is easy to use & find items. They don't tell you in the catalog what brand you are getting (unless you can identify by the picture) but usually it is a trustworthy name brand. I would say Grainger & MSC are their biggest competitors. Would advise to avoid Grainger, I deal with them on a weekly basis because my company pushes us to use them - their prices are way high, sometimes double! Their website is terrible!. I don't use MSC very often but I would say they are very similar to McMaster.
At first they let me know I was able to receive the order in Mexico, however I decided to receive it at El Paso, because of the shipping price, without explaining them further info They let me know they can't ship my order to any address inside the U.S. since I'm probably going to take the order outside the country and they take a "conservative approach to shippments outside North America"Literally only ordering 4 locating pins... Reading the rest of the reviews I found out they really don't like foreign people, I thought it was only for the Mexico thing, but nah
Completely ridiculous shipping rules. I placed an order online to be shipped to my customer location (that I have shipped to previously). Received a confirmation email and then was subsequently contacted by a rep stating they intercepted my order so UPS could return it as they could not ship to a third party. If I'm paying by credit card, why do they care who I'm shipping my items to?? It mentions nothing about this "rule" on their website.
All orders have have been either incorrect quantity or incorrect sizes. Even after reviewing orders many times prior to ordering. Terrible communication skills. Great shipping, things arrived very quickly. If they had been correct even once would be 5 stars.
I’m giving them five stars despite their bizarre website tactic of blocking people searching for parts. They have an incredible catalog and more importantly, they’re shipping is world class. My orders typically arrive in just 1 to 2 business days which is greatly appreciated.
I use McMaster-Carr primarily for automotive needs. Using their web site is super easy by far the best site to quickly get to what you are looking for with no fluff or "offers" to interrupt navigating your way around. Finding hardware and electrical supplies is a breeze. I highly recommend using them if you are in the SouthEast. Most everything I have ordered literally shows up the next day even though I didn't select next day shipping. They may not always have the best price but the quality of goods combined with showing up the next day wins in my book. No one at McMaster-Carr asked for this review. I just felt I needed to share with others how awesome they are to work with.
I order from McMaster-Carr on a regular basis. I do not believe you will find another company that does "it" as well as them. They are the standard that all other companies strive to achieve. Website works well, ordering is a breeze, excellent customer service, ship extremely fast and cheap, billing is quick and accurate, products are as described. Will always order from McMaster given the choice. Only exception is having to watch for items that will go truck freight as that is not always apparent when ordering. Love doing business with this place.
I recently placed a small order - just over $20 - with McMaster-Carr. During the order process I was not able to see, or even estimate, the shipping cost. All I got on the order page was "shipping and tax will be added." OK, I figured, I'll take a chance. 24 hours later, my shipment was in the mail and I finally got a receipt showing the shipping (and tax) amount. Turns out the shipping was more than 40% of the total order, making it substantially less competitive with other suppliers. My advice: (1) shop around. (2) If you MUST buy from McMaster-Carr, don't press "buy" until you know the shipping cost.
I have been in business about 27 years now. I am in the process of closing my place due to health reasons. I have bought from McMaster the whole time. Not once have they given me reason to complain. Their telephone staff is run by fine Southern (polite) people, which are still there despite having a well-working website. Yes, their prices may be a bit higher because you are getting industrial-quality goods and not the junk you find at your local big box. Finally, go to your local favorite and ask for a 3/16" transfer punch. See if they even know what it is. Then see if they will sell it to you individually for a couple of bucks. McMaster will.
I buy alot of stuff from McMaster Carr with me being a maintenance manager. Almost everything I order is delivered by the next morning. I have always received quality items. Today I received one wrong item in my order. When I emailed their customer service I received a reply within 10 minutes. I was told to keep the wrong item and they would ship the correct item for the next morning delivery. Anyone else would've wanted pictures of the wrong item in the package and days if not weeks of time before a reply.
Shipping charge is not disclosed at any time when placing an order. There is no next page where you have shipping options! When you click on "Place order" it is the final step and they can charge you whatever they want to for shipping. In fairness, their website is otherwise easy to use and the company responded within minutes to my concerns. The order arrived quickly and shipping charges were refunded to me after my complaint. If the shipping charges issue is resolved I would likely purchase from them again.

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
