Young lad in Halfords East Kilbride (did not get his name unfortunately) couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable.Went for Shell engine oil and he took all my car details, checked which oil I needed and advised me on the specific one for my car. Unfortunately it wasn't in stock but he did help with details of another local stockist I could probably get it from if I needed it urgently.His service, advice and helpfulness was something that you rarely get nowadays. Hope he gets more good reviews as he deserves them.
Visited Stanley Green Cheadle store. Emmanuel fitted my side light bulbs, very polite, helpful and knew what he was doing. I was on my way in 10 mins total, excellent service, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
HiOrder number A722B024421 Purchased some tyres from halfords and paid with PayPal. Discovered they were wrong type and had bother speaking to anyone to cancel order . Eventually got through only to be to told it could take upto 30 days for refund then maybe another 5 days for PayPal to process. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HALFORDS. in this day and age refunds should be instant. Never had refund bother from Amazon.
Halfords Darlington bike repair department. Both young men in the department were friendly and knowledgeable about spare parts. However Jamie the gentleman that repaired my grandson’s bike wheel was amazing. What an asset he is to the company as his customer service was outstanding.
Visited Halfords in Exmouth this morning to check the tyre pressures of my wife’s car before she drove it to Bath this morning. The very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable man who helped me kindly checked the tyres and filled with air as needed. He also pointed out the two of the tyres were potentially unsafe and should be properly looked at before my wife’s journey. This turned out the case so a possible nasty accident was avoided. I booked a mobile air con re-gas which couldn't be completed as the machine broke during the process. The man was very apologetic about it and told me that his manager would call me within an hour to rearrange the appointment and compensate me for the inconvenience.Nobody called me, but I got an invoice.I called customer services three days later who helpfully told me she was unable to amend the booking as it was marked as complete. She sent the request to the hub manager to rectify and said they would call me. I called again 3 days later after no response again. She said she escalated it to management as the hub manager hadn't responded, and I should get a call back in max 72 hours. 5 days later - nobody has called. After calling today, and being told there are no managers to speak to, they have now made a refund request. The Customer service assistants were polite and helpful but its useless if they can't do anything and no one calls me back.
absolutely hopeless website if you're after manufacturers paint, do not have popular colours, can't even tell you if they stock bmw paint, maybe they want you to drive into the store. Only useful if you're absolutely stuck or don't mind paying high prices, this give up with this store!

I brought my e-bike into Halfords Tunbridge Wells as the battery wasn’t working anymore and as they don’t hold stock, it had to be ordered from China on a boat, which took 3 weeks. They don’t have a stock of chargers and 6 weeks in, no stock of chargers has arrived, no idea when it will. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to have a depot somewhere in Europe? I was told they can’t stock them as it’s a fire hasardto stock lithium batteries. The battery is now in my shed!
Danny and Team at Oxford Road Store. Ordered a bike to be built on Friday, whilst being built advised that the gears would not pass the check. In the end the bike was too small for my son so went home to chose another bike. Ordered another bike to be built and it stated ready for Sunday. Sunday comes and the bike has not arrived at Halfords so whole order cancelled. Second time I made the trip out to Halfords and no bike - my son was gutted! I was so angry - but Danny turned the experience around! My son chose a bike in store, it was checked ready to ride there and then and a satisfactory discount was offered for the previous issues. They did turn a very poor customer experience into an acceptance and satisfied finish. My son was happy and therefore I was happy. Good turnaround guys!
Went into store in Selly Oak for advice on buying touch up paint for my car. No staff around so asked girl on the bike stand who told me to speak to the man on the till. After waiting in the queue (Saturday so quite a queue) he told me he wasn't the best person to speak to and to read the booklet by the paint which I'd already done and just wanted clarification I'd got the right one for my car. He didn't seem bothered about helping me but after I complained he murmured something about looking for me. I gave up at that point and walked out.
Bought brand new bike, on pick up bike was scratched, paint chipped. Technician had to start stripping parts of a demo bike to replace parts on the new bike. To get the bike sorted i had to buy and new set of pedals to get fitted. Had to wait an extra 3 hrs for the bike. Also ordered a name to be put on the bike, the name was missed spelt even though correct on the order. If it wasn't for a birthday on the day i would have cancelled the order. Shocking service considering i pre-ordered weeks in advance and that staff think its ok to hand a bike like that to a customer.
Went to the store in Southport as I was interested in purchasing a dash cam, but wished some advice. There was two young men by the tills who didn't appear interested in dealing with customers. An older man then appeared but couldn't deal with me as he was seeing to another customer. When he did return to me and I told him I was looking for advice on Web Cams, he said the employee who dealt with this was on his break. I bought a beach tent online, the money has been taken from my bank but no order confirmation or order number, nothing in my I box or junk mail. When I call customer service it just hangs up the call and when I try to contact someone online it just redirects to FAQs, appalling and I could really do without this as I have a 10 week old baby.
Excellent service at the Kingston Park branch after previous poor service at Gateshead store. Staff were attentive and helped me pick out the best products for shining my car. Decided to go ahead with a dashcam install after putting this off for a while, so booked in next week
Awful customer experience.Went through the purchasing process, item in my basket, selected in put all details, went through to payment, paid and then was reloaded onto an empty basket page. Checked bank and they had charged for the item, had no receipt of product or email. Halfords just took the money. What should be a simple process of allocating the product to me turned into a circus of virtual agents that can’t do anything useful, and being told to wait 24hrs to hear from customer services. 60hrs pass and so decide to call myself get kicked from the phone lines. Tried virtual agent again, same useless responses. Finally able to get through on the phone and told it was possibly my own fault as I must’ve been “distracted” when going through the payment process. Then told I’d have to wait another 48-72hrs to get my money back as refund department will be dealing with it. No option to pick up the item in store myself or have one delivered, only refunded.So Halfords have illegally kept my money for 4 days, and will continue to keep my money for another potential 2 days. You telling me 6 days to be given back money they shouldn’t have been taken. Worst retail experience, worst customer service. Not even given so much as an apology. 😡😡😡
After being transferred from one of the Halfords auto centres to national tyres at Dukinfield we were a bit miffed ! As we didn’t know that it was part of the Halfords group. No need to worry we were greeted by Jon at reception who was more than welcoming and accommodating , it felt like you had walked into your local garage with an owner you had known for years , (our usual garage has retired ). He made you feel at ease nothing was too much trouble and he was very knowledgeable as in he explained everything to us and the reason we were transferred ( we have a landrover with an aircon issue). We were a bit wary of using Halfords as sometimes you just feel like a number. Thank you Jon and the staff who we consequently met later, for the warm welcome and the can do attitude in sorting our car out and for making us feel like more than a number. We will definitely be back, we have 3 cars in the household, with always something to do on them.

“Mobile fitting”

Booked and paid for battery change, 13/12/24 to be fitted 14/12/24 between 8 and 8 check web site for timing on 14th nothing showing, phone customer services at 10-20 for information and was told no fitters available and the battery would not be fitted, but i could re schedule for another day. Not acceptable to be left without a car and not be notified. Sorry cant rate less than one if I could. Service Value Quality

“£100 parking to shop at Halfords”

I was given a £100 parking fine for shopping in Halfords Coalville, reduced to £20 as a "goodwill gesture" after I produced a proof of receipt that I shopped there. Apparently you have to find a computer to type your registration in. If you don't you will get a £100 parking fine for shopping. “Warranty a waste of paper”

Bought a battery for my car from them. Then they tell me they can not fit to my model, too complicated! So I paid a garage as i do not have the tool to program it. 3.5 years later it fails, i return it under its 5 year warranty. They claim nothing wrong. Manager arrogant. Told me start stop not working because of a window module (without testing anything). I have it tested elsewhere as they told me to (battery specialist). They tell me certain types of battery fail in a manner they will not fully charge either on or off the car. However they tested alternator and wiring, its fine. Halfords still don't believe it faulty, wont do anything. Write to all 5 directors, no reply Store at other end of the country call me but as I'm too far away just tell me to go back to the store I went to before. Local battery specialist tell me Halfords have no idea with modern batteries. I call Halfords customer services they say warranty does not cover it being used! End up giving up! Battery fails completely. Have to buy a new one elsewhere MESSAGE TO HALFORDS, STICK TO SELLING CAR WASH AND WAX! Lets see if you can get that right? Whilst fitting a shock absorber the Halfords garage broke my windscreen. They are offering to replace it with a generic rather than branded windscreen. “Absolutely terrible, useless customer service”

I haven't had such a terrible experience in years. I had an issue with online order, they made me go to the physical store, where they were useless, ruined my day. On top of it when I wanted to submit a complaint they sent me some generic message with apologies which had nothing to do with what I complained about. I am glad I never made a purchase and never gave my hard-earned money to these unprofessional useless people. “Complaint ignored”

While in for new tyres and wheel alignment (NTS Stirling) noticed two staff driving my car around town.and only one returned. When questioned told that it was for mandatory test drive! Later, having got no documentation re wheel alignment and no evidence of tool marks on track rods I had suspicion that wheel alignment had not been done at all. My complaint to Halfords was completely ignored and after two propts they told me case was closed - Manager had apologied for MY confusion! My only confusion was that I did NOT receive any apology or explanation from Halfords at all. Needless to say I will not be back - thankfully there is a lot of competitors out there. Ordered a turbo trainer online during the January sales. Waited two weeks for the trainer to arrive so I could collect it. “E bike”

I bought this ebike arfter loosing my driving license du to a heart condition which the shop was aware of. It broke down multiple times I took the bike back and they just left in in the shop for 3 weeks to make it look like they was fixing it but they wasn't I rang them and they just gave me the run around in the end I had no choice but to give up du to ill health this problem was causing me the manager Wayne did not help either. “Lies & ignorance”

I booked and paid for an MOT test months in advance. When I turned up for the test they told me they didn't have an MOT tester at that garage and hadn't had one for weeks. Do not repeat do not get a electric bike from here! The bike care is rubbish even though you pay £100 for the care you can't have because they are fully booked for 10 days! Got a vegeance e bike 2.0 battery the bike care doesn't cover it also be careful if you buy one mine was a refurbished one! “Pathetic customer service”

I have experienced pathetic customer service at the Cambridge Halfords store. Not ones but thrice my experience has been awful. To begin with I had to wait 4 hours to buy my kids bikes. I had taken bronze service package and when I got the bikes for servicing I needed to wait for 2 more hours despite of the team members roaming around inside the store. There is only 1 person upstairs attending customers and also repairing bikes. The other staffs on the floor just doesn't help. Will never buy another bike from there. “Terrible experience”

Sold a product over the phone after spending 45 mins chatting to an advisor. Booked car in, when arrived after calling to check that I was booked in I was told they could not do the work. I was also told that I needed something else as part of the package which was not mentioned on the call, this was three times the price what I already paid. The manager was unsympathetic, he could see I was distressed after wasting so much time and with a toddler in toe! Called again to complain and asked that this be looked at asap, advisor seemed to listen but had no call back and it's now been 4 weeks. “Air Con Recharge did not happen”

Car booked 1pm 11th Aug. Told to allow up to 1.5 hrs before collection. Returned at 2.30pm to collect car. They had not even looked at my car and told me it could take a further 1.5 hrs to complete. Tried ordering on-line. Awful website, banners, flashing bits, trying to increase order values. Supposedly offers a PayPal to pay but no option on checkout. “Disgraceful and disgusting”

They sold me a battery for £99, similar cost ~60 on eBay, which stopped working within the warranty of three years (close to). They refused to replace it stating that I have been driving my car the wrong way. Not to mention, other comments with which they patronized and attempted to offend me. I pre-booked in advance a health check service for our bikes. When I arrived I was welcomed very nice and the gentleman Rob listened to my problem in a very professional manner. Without any further questions he asked me to leave my bicycle and he will call me later to pick it up. Turned around my check and repair same day and bike was ready to go, even though the shop is heaving with bikes. The team Levi, Rob and Mo are brilliant - helped me sort out a lot of my questions and bike's issues. On top, you get advice how to maintain your bike the best way possible. I've been extremely satisfied with each service I booked starting with checking our new family's bikes There is professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Outstanding customer service. If you want the best for your bicycle this is the place. I'm feeling very lucky to have this shop next to me.
