groupon.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives groupon.com the absolute highest trust score on the platform: 100. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Safe. Secure. . We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this very high score? We came up with the 100 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to groupon.com's industry. The algorithm detected no high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Safe. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we label this website as secure and trustworthy. We explain this in more detail below.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning groupon.com, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between groupon.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of groupon.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of groupon.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. groupon.com is a secure website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether groupon.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether groupon.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, groupon.com.

“McAfee”

I wish I could do a 0 cause this transaction isn't even worth a 1...I purchased Mcafee as I have so many times before with no problems as well as other items but for some reason it gives me a redemption code that can only be used in the UK and Ireland, yet I live in USA. I purchased on the 11/12/2024 and I have tried since November 13th, 2024, to get help but nothing. Use caution if ordering anything from them I guess customers aren't important once they get your money. I will no longer order $#*! from them! Horrible customer service. If you're unable to use voucher you cannot trade in for something else so you don't lose your money. I definitely don't recommend. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Groupon/Midas false advertising.”

Groupon/Midas offered an auto transmission fluid change for ($99.99). I called Midas spoke to (Mitch) to confirm the price. He stated the real price is $389.00 less Groupon discount of $149.00.leaving a balance of $240.00+ tax& fees. Very misleading with Groupon/Midas Date of experience: November 07,2024

“Lost 7 thousand dollars on a vacation from groupon”

I lost seven thousand dollars on a vacation from groupon to Africa because of covid even though I had gotten a full examination from my doctor saying I was healthy they would not let me on the airplane. The Dubai airline said they gave the money back to Groupon and Groupon said they never got the money. “A Stressful Holiday Disaster—Never Using Groupon Again”

I booked a one-night stay at the Holiday Inn in Richmond, BC through Groupon on December 20,2023, planning to check in on December 21. I had an email confirmation explicitly showing December 21 as the date. However, my reservation never appeared in my Groupon account until I reached out to their chat support—then it suddenly popped up as "expired." To make matters worse, Groupon insisted I had booked for December 20, which contradicts the very email they sent me! Over the course of five excruciating hours, I spoke with multiple Groupon representatives who each promised to contact the hotel and fix their mistake. When my pregnant wife and I arrived at the Holiday Inn, the staff had no idea we were coming and confirmed no one from Groupon had reached out. We had to scramble for last-minute lodging at an extra $150, on top of the $70 (credit card) and $75 (Groupon gift card) I had already spent. While I managed to initiate a chargeback for the $70, Groupon has flat-out refused to return my $75 in Groupon Bucks. This was supposed to be a special Christmas getaway—one of our last chances to relax before the baby arrives—but it turned into a complete nightmare of lost money and endless stress. Worst of all, Groupon doesn't provide any phone support, and their chat representatives eventually stopped responding, leaving us with no resolution. I'm sharing my story so other consumers know what they might be getting into. If you value peace of mind, stay far away from Groupon. Their lack of accountability and willingness to dismiss loyal customers is absolutely shocking. This experience has put me off Groupon for good. Products used:None. Groupon took my money and refused to resolve my issues unfortunately. They also lied to me about contacting the hotel and contacting me with followup. Service Value Returns Quality

“So hard to make a review on groupon have sent this to Mystery Flights no reply... want all to know.”

We were so excited my husband was given this as a birthday gift…. The extra expenses have been ridiculous… extra $100 each to fly out from Brisbane… extra costs to sit together on flight… car hire for 3 days cause a very basic motel is not near city, beach, etc…. We were not honoured any of our three Friday and Saturday night options… had to fly out on a Thursday… taking away our income (haven't even gone and down $1060)… gosh I hope our bottom of the peeking order destination is worth it! “Don't buy any store memberships for them.”

I bought a Costco membership from them. I was supposed to get a $45.00 voucher. I didn't get it. I have been checking my emails.

“Fraudulent schemers”

On 10/14 I purchased 2 tickets from Groupon for the spartan race in Central Florida for 12/7/24. After purchasing the tickets the online registration was not working, I tried calling and they do not have a working number so I emailed them. After 24 hours of silence I messaged them on Facebook and managed to get a response and after 2 hours of messaging they could not figure out the issue and promised to email me with a resolution. That resolution never came so day 3 now I am messaging them again and they are going in circles with the same trouble shooting from the day before. Eventually I give up because they stop responding and try to return the tickets on Groupon which promised a 3 day refund guarantee. Groupon which also doesn't have a working day phone number says they have to reach out to Spartan race because these tickets are now not refundable per their policy even though they advertise there is and they reply an hour later that Spartan race verified their registration IS WORKING, I try again and it is of course not working. I had no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I will be filing a claim with the court if need be. Products used:They were unusable Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Ripped off by Groupon”

I have been trying to rectify a refund due me since July. This is going nowhere and I am unsatisfied. Who can help me? I bought three nightgowns and they sent the wrong size on one of them. I returned it promptly, paid postage both ways and I have NO REFUND yet. I purchased on a Gift "pre-paid" debit card which I no longer have because I used up the balance. I have had multiple communications with everyone and NO RESOLUTION yet. The refund due is around $24. I would even take Groupon Bucks but they do not assess the problem and fix it.

“Buyer beware!”

Buyer beware! They canceled my purchase without reaching out to me. When I asked why they did that I was told that the tickets I purchased were sold out. If they were sold out why did you sell them to me? I contacted the venue and they were in fact not sold out. These tickets were for an event for my son's 13th birthday and due to the fact that I'm having to wait 7 days for the refund to occur I am unable to repurchase the tickets. Had they reached out to me and offered to refund with Groupon bucks which are available immediately I would have been able to salvage my sons birthday party. In response to my complaint they said they could offer me $5 to make things better, that's just insulting. Service Value Returns

“BOTCHED JUVEDERM LIP INJECTION: NO REFUND!”

Groupon is HORRIBLE. I had this terrifying experience with this so called "doctor" that was suppose to give me one full syringe of Juvederm into my lips. His name is Dr. Kuhlman of 'Inspiring Medical Aesthetics'. He is extremely creepy. I know, for a fact, that he did not use the full syringe. There is absolutely no change in my lips, whatsoever, except one side is bigger than the other. So, this "doctor" botched the entire treatment. On top of this, I tried telling Groupon about my experience and they did not care at all! They gave me $89 in "Groupon Bucks" which I will never use because I never intend on buying any thing on there, ever again! I asked to speak with a supervisor. They told me to wait for an email within 24 hours. I want a full refund for this botched treatment! This is not okay for some one to do this to your face! The little that this doctor did was make one side of my lips bigger than the other. Groupon did not care, would not give me a refund and this email they are sending better or I am never using them again. So, after this "doctor" was done injecting my lips (I've had this done before and it's extremely expensive. I know what it should feel like), I was confused because I felt absolutely nothing. Then, he says we are done. And, there is seriously no improvement in my lips at all! Then, he tries to bait me into buying this app to get me to have points for the treatment where he will obviously get points! And, I did it, thinking it would benefit me, but it just wasted more of my money! I relayed all of this to Groupon and they did not care AT ALL, would not refund me OVER MY DEAD BODY! So, until they do? I AM GOING TO TELL MY STORY ALL OVER THE INTERNET! Tip for consumers:Groupon is SO UNHELPFUL AND THEIR AGENTS DO NOT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH! The agents just keep saying the same thing over and over and over in different ways and then you ask to speak to a supervisor bc I am seriously considering taking them to small claims court and they want to send you and email with in 24 hours? I WANT A FULL REFUND FOR A BOTCHED SERVICE!!!! Products used:Groupon is HORRIBLE. “Misleading Sales”

I have bought a voucher to used in Dubai as I am living outside, but unable be there in SEP24 as it mention expire, they are refusing to refund it and did not even offer extension. Bad customer service. Service

“No human contact to explain a problem”

I purchased a Groupon. Had trouble using it w the vender. I should have returned it to Groupon but instead contacted them directly. They asked me for my credit card? To secure the purchase. I stupidly gave it to them. I tried to report this to Groupon but the Groupon person did not understand me. (probably a Harvard graduate!). The Groupon is for a 6 month subscription but afraid the vendor will use my CC to renew w/o my permission. So now I am forced to get a new credit card as I just don't trust the vendor. Lesson Learned. Buy Groupon for local restaurants etc. that can be used quickly and NOT for subscriptions. Tip for consumers:the eucalyptus plants from trader joes, smell and look better. These arrive dried out so I put them in a vase with water. They last a long time. Price is good. The aggravation is that I gave the vendor my credit card when I should not have been asked to do so as this was a pre-paid subscription from Groupon. It is very difficult and time consuming to talk to anyone at Groupon and then u finally speak to a dim-wit that doesn't want to understand. “Charged me twice and refused to refund”

While on vacation I purchased a Groupon for an event, but the first time I tried I got a message saying my purchase could not be completed. I figured I entered my credit card incorrectly or something, so started all over again. The second transaction went through fine, but then moments later so did the first one. So now I was charged twice ($182 each). I contacted customer service online immediately and spent a good part of the rest of that day dealing with robotic responses about their "policy" that all sales are final. There was no consideration given to the fact that this was not something I purchased and now wanted a refund for- it was a simple matter of the charge going through twice, moments apart. The event that the Groupon was for had not even happened yet, there was no reason for them not to simply reverse one of the charges. I tried going through my bank, who did investigate, but ultimately could not get the refund from Groupon either because they were told that I had made two purchases, so the bank could not refund me. My bank did tell me that the error message on my first try purchasing would be an error on Groupon's end so to try going directly to them for the refund, which of course I had already done. The can't have a system that sends error/transaction can't be completed messages and then have the transaction go through, when in the meantime I've already made the purchase over again. Groupon did end up giving me groupon bucks credit, but since I don't trust their site and they don't usually offer things that interest me, I don't want a Groupon credit, I just want the money back for the second charge. Their customer service always felt like dealing with an actual robot and sometimes I would receive the same response more than once. Service Value Returns

“Under no circumstances should you ever use Groupon”

Brought a Groupon for an oil change at a national company that hit redeemed, but I never actually got to use the Groupon, contacted customer service at Groupon and they never fixed it. Tip for consumers:Groupon use to reliable with great customer service that is out of the window I would not recommend Groupon Products used:did not actually get to use the service Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Consumers are being ripped off by Groupon.”

Groupon has a one-star rating from Better Business Bureau. Meaning most customers are not satisfied with Groupon and this company should be avoided. The company is totally nonresponsive to customer concerns, opting instead to make difficult demands when customers seek valid responses to their inquiries. I have been seeking a refund for a Sam's Club membership I paid for but never received I purchased $70 membership on March 9th. When I went to Sam's Club there was no record of my membership purchase Groupon told me to go to Sam's for any further assistance. Groupon again told me to go to Sam's again and again. I made five trips to Sam's, numerous emails to and from Sam's and Groupon. Groupon kept on trying to say their mistake was my fault. Two- and one-half months and still no refund. Groupon cannot be trusted and should be avoided.. Tip for consumers:There were many complaints similar to mine. A one-star rating on Better Business Bureau is rare, but Groupon deserves it. Products used:Membership directly from Sam's Club. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Groupon SUCKS! EXCHANGE PROGRAM IS A SCAM!”

"Exchange program" is a SCAM. Once you buy, you only have 3 DAYS! They could easily credit your account and debit their merchant -- since you have not used your voucher. But NOOOOOO...On Day 4 -- YOU'RE SCREWED! If you buy a service and then something happens beyond your control and you cannot use it, TOUGH LUCK! NOT A REPUTABLE SERVICE OR COMPANY! They hide behind FALSE and MISLEADING STATEMENTS, e.g., "The amount paid for this voucher ($100.00) with Merchant NEVER EXPIRES. The promotional value expires Month Day, Year." In other words, you and your voucher that you cannot use are F***ed! DISHONERABLE OPPORTUNISTIC COMPANY! Products used:None - no exchange accepted Service Value Returns Quality

“Deleted my account without my permission. These are scammers and cheaters! Dont buy from Groupon!”

I'd give 0 to Groupon. I bought universal tickets in LA and spent $470 but the entrance I found out I had to buy some 3 day pass which would come to some $800+. Anyway I wanted to get the money refunded and if not refunded they could have given it as a credit for future use. When I called Groupon about either refunding or giving credits they just deleted my Groupon account with out my permission! Who does this? Who deletes customer account b'cos they are asking for refunds! Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“False information.”

I purchased an air duct cleaning from Elliott's Air Care. According to the site, they service are within 110 miles Newark, DE. I'm located less than 90 miles from there. When I called to make an appointment, I was told that my area is not serviced. It's virtually impossible to get a refund on your credit card. Now I'm stuck with useless Groupon bucks. Tip for consumers:Business provided false information which results in frozen funds. Products used:None. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Shocking customer service”

Really appalling customer service. I received a damaged product (which happens) but the customer service following has been rude and unprofessional. Please do not use this company, so many negative reviews. Products used:Cosmetics Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Valentine's Day rip off!”

Valentines Day surprise was just that. I had ordered roses but got carnations instead. For $52 I had hoped a nicer flower group would be delivered. I'm very dissatisfied. Don't buy the inter floral Groupon deal!

“Sketchy”

For exactly 120 for a couples massage was not reflected on my account. I contacted groupon and gave them the order number in question as well as screenshots of my confirmation email. Instead of inquiring on the issue they refunded a second groupon voucher I bought for a movie ticket in the amount of 26.45 when I paid 29.45 and skipped out on paying my 3 additional dollars. When I contacted them a third time, my email was blocked. I would have been fine calling and explain this issue but there is no customer service number. Beware of the bs. Groupon is sketchy.

“I've purchased multiple deals from Groupon.com and...”

I've purchased multiple deals from Groupon.com and can comfortably say that I am happy with my purchases nearly each time, and when something goes wrong, I simply break off a call or send an email and it gets resolved in the same day. Thanks, Groupon! Huge fan!

“Waited a long time to get merchandise”

Waited a long time to get merchandise. Tracking info unavailable once it shipped. Customer service was great, though, they issued a refund right away and gave me $5.00 for the trouble. Not sure I'll buy another Groupon again.

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a

fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

* Business documentation that verifies your legitimacy (e.g., certificate of incorporation, business registration, or official records with the site or business name).

* Your personal LinkedIn profile and the business's social media accounts (e.g., Facebook).

* If available, proof of satisfied customers (e.g., screenshots, not just testimonials on your website), evidence of inventory, or records of handling order cancellations properly.

We’re more than willing to update your review based on the evidence you provide—the more proof, the higher your trust score. Please note, however, that we cannot verify non-operational websites or those redirected to other URLs. Additionally, we do not verify websites involved in high-risk financial services, gambling, adult content, or illegal activities.

Please send the following via email to [email protected].
