We came up with the 91.5 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to geico.com's industry. The algorithm detected no high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Trustworthy. Quality. Safe. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning geico.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between geico.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of geico.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of geico.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. geico.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether geico.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether geico.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Really GEICO is not a trusted company. I bought auto-insurance with full payment. After I paid for six months payment, they are sending me bills for one or another reason. They start creating some reason to charge more and more. I really disappointed with their bad behavior.
Horrible business. I was gave 3 different quotes. They kept getting higher to the point they wanted over 600 dollars a month for a single vehicle. I was gonna switch from my current insurance to save money. But they want a house payment for there insurance. They can F off. Geico is the worst insurance company ever.
While working on my collision claim, I spoke with Cedric who was truly empathetic, helpful, and a pleasure to talk with. He helped me setup my rental for after my trip and provided the next steps in the process. It's people like Cedric that make me stay with GEICO as long as I have.
Had a uninsured motorist claim took 3 years to settle only received half of benefit and had to give 40 percent to attorney 6 years later can't feel my feet what a joke of a company wish someone would attack their co let them feel my pain crooks
Terrible insurance company, worst cuctomer service i have ever seen! They NEVER respond, ever, unless of course they think you want to pay for something. No thats not even true, i asked for a response to 2 questions. Never heard a word, then i get email today insurance policy expired. Yea i know morons, im not renewing policy without answers to my questions, such as why did policy double when i filed no claims and received no tickets. They sound like a bunch of crooks. Either way, terrible customer service. Not even a message system set up, just a ridiculous virtual assistant which is useless. I do not recomend this company for insurance. Just imagine if i had a greater concern, such as a vehicle accident, i would never get someone to respond.
GEICO insurance is a giant scam. I have been a customer for numerous years and fortunately have only needed them two times. However, every time they are needed they seem to weasel their way out of providing any sort of support/coverage. I may as well be uninsured with how this company seems to deny any sort of responsibility. It is unfortunate that insurance is required in the state of Massachusetts because GEICO is as useless as it gets.
Very unprofessional performance. Before reviewing my documents and pictures from the accident they decided to decline my claim. Their so called experts about claims have no knowledge about the field they are in nor about customer service and follow the laws that apply to car insurance claims
I was checking rates for different insurance companies and without my knowledge or approval geico ran a credit check on me and since I don't have any credit good or bad the gave me an insane quote I'm totally upset about it they don't have my ss number or anything that could be used for credit reference
The worst ever insurance company! I recently realized I was paying more than double for my auto insurance with exactly the same coverage for I what I get from market. But worse than all, I received a Fair Debt collection notice from this company which states I have an outstanding home insurance balance which I never bought one from them!!! I called their so called "customer service", which by the way is also the worst in the market, I inquired about this issue and why I get this notice; they say you had a home insurance policy back in July, and you did not pay your premium for two months which led to cancellation of the policy and now you have $503.00 balance!!! I was shocked as I never bought this policy and in the past 5 months I never got ANY notifications from them regarding this policy or any payment whatsoever. But I have received a final debt collection notice!!! Ridiculous, they won't even discuss why do I need to pay this amount, and I have no option other than paying because they will hand it over to the debt collection company as they have all my information from the the auto insurance policy I had with them back in time!!! This looks a real fraud from a registered business!!!
They cancelled my policy because my insurance premiums were too low.I'm one of those really boring people that doesn't drive a lot.No tickets, no accidents. So I started investigating this thing called the CLUE database. This database is how insurance companies skirt collusion laws in the U.S.Evidently, it is NOT POSSIBLE to have an error corrected in the CLUE database. I keep telling you I don't have any claims. You keep telling me I'm a criminal.Consider this a suggestion, your government-mandated oligopoly / oligopolicy needs to be more similar to the Fair Credit Reporting Act.If you think your free credit report isn't valuable, you try getting car insurance if you have a black mark in the CLUE database.
This company is scamming their consumers we are paying into the company and when something happens the cancel your policy. How many people has this happened to ? We need to come together and stand up they are not calling back they are not producing paperwork constantly the run around and no results they lie to their customers
I switched my insurance to Geico on November 18, 2023, and shortly after, I was asked to provide proof of address and vehicle ownership. I promptly submitted the titles for all four vehicles, except one, which is leased. For the leased vehicle, I provided a lease statement from my bank, Chase. However, Geico informed me that this document was insufficient. I then sent all the forms I signed at the time of leasing the vehicle, but they stated they required the full lease contract, which must be mailed out by my bank. This process has been extremely frustrating, as I’ve had to start recording my conversations with their agents. Agents claim to document the details of my calls, but the next day, other agents say they cannot find any notes on file. Additionally, I submitted all required proof of address, including a paystub that was listed as an acceptable form of documentation. Yet today, I called to confirm the status of my policy and was informed it had been canceled because they cannot use the paystub. The lack of communication and coordination within their team is alarming. It’s impossible to escalate concerns, as I can only speak to the agent who answers the phone, none of whom seem to have the authority to resolve these issues effectively. This experience has been disorganized and frustrating, and I am left without coverage due to their internal inefficiencies.
We were enrolled in the drive easy program. After the 45 day trial, to continue to receive a discount. They “claim” they didn’t have sufficient information (we had all the settings correct. The representative even said everything was correct) they sent a bill for $150! So no notification that they were having problems receiving info they needed and sent notice only 4 days before payment was due!
Another big company that will scam you and deny your claim. I had a bent piston rod that can only be done through water damage. The adjuster Mary Welborn somehow knows more about the technician saying it was bent from other means. When asked what other means she did not respond. I tried appealing the case and called her supervisor Matthew Kang and left 2 voicemails with no response or call back! I expected more from big companies such as Geico.
Worse company. Took money out of my account after talking to customer service and rescheduling. Never got a call back from a manager. Now I have to wait 10 days for r my refund.
I contacted GEICO on 12/06/24 because the renewal premium on my home was 50% higher even though I've had zero claims on my homeowners policy. They ended up recommending that if I switched to Sage Sure Insurance that I'd save $250 for next year's premium.I agree to switch to Sage Sure with an effective date of Jan 9, 2025 and paid a partial premium of $304. Later in the afternoon, I found a much cheaper homeowners policy so I cancelled the Sage Sure on the same day (12/6/24). Even though this policy was not supposed to go into effect until Jan 9, 2025, the GEICO rep told me I have to wait until after Jan 9th to get a refund of $304 on my credit card. This is simply unacceptable. Policy wasn't even to go in-force for over a month and cancelled the same day. I'm not going to wait 35-40 days for a refund for a policy that was cancelled the same afternoon.

I am a retired Veteran and single father and this is my primary vehicle which is in need of a new Engine no thanks to this insurance company.
Great customer in person service I walked in and ten to fifteen minutes later I walked out fully covered with a STAMPED RTA for a hundred bucks. Thank you GEICO on Drum hill rd Chelmsford Jackson Ellis was amazing seamless transaction A+ customer rating.
If you had a negative review, I would do that. I get GEICO is so big, no one cares about the “little guy.”31 year loyal customers just moved to USAA & Progressive. GEICO made a mistake by telling my son he was “good to go.” His name was Mike.He lied. 3 1/2 weeks of my son out of work because of your mistake! He never drove an uninsured vehicle. No one would listen when we tried to explain.Switched our autos to USAA and our boat to progressive. We were big fans. NO LONGER!!!
My car was vandalized. I submitted my claim online but did find any help yet. The customer service is out of reach when you call. It is very impossible to get help. I was told that they laid off the insurance adjusters that would come to your house for damage assessment. I’m stuck here without help just being with them over 6 years!

“Daily IMPROV's system would not recognize my email address!”
I am a GEICO Customer who purchased a Defensive Driving Course with IMPROV. Every time I attempted to login to IMPROV's Defensive Driving Course, their system would not recognize my email address! I used their Help Desk link, which was sent to me, to log in! Today I cannot login at all because the HELP desk has not provided a HUMAN for me to correspond with after approximately one hour! This is unacceptable help!
“Lies, unreliable, terrible service”
I would definitely not recommend Geico to anyone seeking recommendations for auto insurance. After spending an exorbitant amount of time on the phone with customer service, and being reassured by two different agents that my claim was fully covered, and the auto body shop having my husband's car for nearly a week waiting to begin the work, Geico at the very last second informed me that my claim wouldn't be covered. We've wasted so much time with the car sitting at the shop and so much time going back and forth with them on the phone, and they've been nothing short of a nightmare. I'm not sure what kind of business can get away with telling a customer TWICE that something is covered and then just randomly backing out at the last second but it's certainly not one that I'll continue giving my money to. Now I have the pleasure of spending the day searching for new auto insurance because this isn't a matter of policy, it's a matter of failing to deliver on a promise that was made by TWO different employees and a "manager" stepping in and reneging at the last second. This company is unreliable and dishonest, AT BEST. Products used:None Service Value Quality
“Geico, they are liar and thief.”
Never ever again deal with this company omg they are Nightmare, someone from geico hit my car. It's been 2 months. They don't want to pay me. Then I find out they do all this to not give me rental car
“ABSOLUTELY a horrible insurance company”
I have 2 vehicles with Geico. I had 4 at one point and will cancel the remaining two in the next two months. Every time I try to interact with this firm I get uninformed kids online, all who are trained to smile and deliver nothing. Every time I checked online, they failed to provide what I've asked for. TWICE over the past 3 months I found gaps in the coverage leaving me exposed. Horrible horrible horrible company. Service Value Quality
“Thieves!”
Why must this company oversaturate with their feel good, fuzzy commercials, then rip off their customers with lowball estimates? My 22 year old daughter was taken advantage of, with a recent accident in a heavy snow storm, here in Buffalo, NY. She got an estimate for $2700 damage. Upon calling Geico she was told- ohhhhh! We make it so easy! Just take pics and send, we'll get your estimate right away! They told her they were giving her $1,000, after her $1,000 deductible. So, my daughter would need to come $1,700 out of pocket, to get it fixed, as per their $2,000 bogus estimate. Absolutely disgusting. She pays for the insurance and your billion dollar company tries to rip off a 22 year old. You should be ashamed! I'm calling my attorney first thing in the am and we'll start shopping around a new insurance company. I'll be sure to post on my personal page as well, with over 600 friends. Service Value Quality
“GEICO IS HORRIBLE”
The worst insurance you can take! I have more than 10 years with geico and have one accident and they told me that they are not covering! And I have "the best coverage" I feel stupid and cheated! Please don't get insurance in this company! Tip for consumers:When I request to speak with a manager or make a claim, they don’t want to pass my call. They didn’t help me to speak with a manager. Products used:I had to pay 100% Service Value Quality
“Can't feed my kids bc I have to pay my insurance!”
Never in my life have I dealt with a company that goes up on your payment 3 times a year! I'm not making more money on my job but they continue to go up! Why? My insurance is more than my car note! I was billed for February and it was still December! Was told that I could get more time to pay my bill if I got off auto pay and it was a lie! Ion understand! They lied to me and now I'm going to have to let my bills get behind because I have to pay them 944 this month and I just paid them 944 last month! So sad that this company treats their customers like they don't have other bill and jobs aren't paying more! I cant wait to leave them!
“Horrible experience!”
Geico is one big rip-off! Quoted one price on my BMW and then when went to make purchase it was 500 more! They wouldn't have any compassion even though im sure the recorded phone call made my claim valid. The worst customer service experience I've dealt with in years. Never again, I'll do the hard work and move on. Products used:None! Switching companies Service Value Quality
“1 star is too high”
1 star is too high. Geico attempted to cancel our HOI for illegitimate reasons, we had fought this issue and fought all the way to the Department of Banking and Insurance where the State took our side and made them reinstate our policy. Fast forward 1 year later when time to renew we made all the required changes their underwriting team requested and they agreed on said changes and planned to continue our policy. Now 2 months into our new policy term they cancel for no outward reason and when contacting all of their customer service departments no one can give me an answer and everyone is giving me the run around without any results. Save your money and shop elsewhere tons of other insurance companies to choose from that do not include this drama. Tip for consumers:the worst customer service they give the run around with no official answer Products used:Homeowners Insurance Service Value Quality
“Raise in Rates”
After being with Geico for 9 YEARS, no accidents, no tickets, no claims, they want to raise my monthly payment rates from $125 to $166! Unreal! Their reason; because I'm driving 12,000 miles per year! In California there is no way to get around unless you drive! Most people do 12K in 4 months! The CEO's continue to get rich while sticking it to the hard workers trying to pay their bills. They claim the "chain supply " has affected them. How?
“Deceitful and misguiding”
Based on previous experience everytime I make a modification to my auto policy such adding or removing coverage I am quoted a rate which is disputed by them later on. The quote I'm initially given is always lower than my statement when I receive later. This has happened repeatedly over time. Smells like a scam?
“Geico is Unethical in their practice”
Geico is by far the worst insurance company I've come across. I was denied a claim that had proof I was innocent. They are unethical and have proven to have no integrity. They care more about saving themselves money than they do about their policy holders. I will do all I can to warn anyone looking to get insured with Geico ~ Don't do it! Shame on Geico for taking advantage of peoples hard earned money! I will share this on every and any social media I come across. I will file a complaint with Arizona Department of Insurance and I will see them in court!
“SCAM. Person added without permission”
First of all, I should have NEVER switched from Allstate. To keep this short and sweet, another adult 18+ years of age, no blood relation to me was added to my policy without my permission. We live at the same address but have absolutely no relation by blood or marriage. BY THE WAY... he has been insured by another company for 3 months now. So I had to go out of my way to remove him and send them proof of his insurance. Pure insanity.
“Extortion for profit”
I recently called to ask why my homeowners had gone up so much. I was shocked when the agent told me that my rate would keep going up until I was as high as other homes around me. WTH! I've had no claims. My house is in mint condition. But because I bought early, before prices went up, they are now going to rob me. Geico had huge profits during COVID…but they want to gouge like all the other corrupt companies. Complete extortion. Service Value Quality
“Only wants money”
Keeps increasing rate even if you call to discuss, they do not care about you as a customer. Charges a cancellation fee if you end up having to change your service due to their fees. DO NOT USE. Will sound good at first and they *used to be a good company* but no longer! They just want your money and will get it however possible. I was a customer for 12 years and will never go back and will tell everyone else to stay away too. Products used:car insurance Service Value Quality
“Worst insurance scam ever!”
It's a bloody nightmare just speaking to a human. ANY insurance company is better than this. They belong in prison for fraud. Go with Allstate, State Farm, AAA or none at all. Still better than Geico Schmucko. Here is a photo of Geico headquarters. Service Value
“Fired Geico as my insurer after 30+ years as their customer. They demonstrate no customer loyalty.”
Left Geico auto after 30+ years when they extremely raised my rates without any logical reason. Gave them a chance to reconsider and they refused. The longer you are with them the more they will treat you as a cash cow to be taken advantage of rather than rewarding you for your loyalty. A very poor business model. Also left their batched homeowners when I found they were using a formula which does not give the best rates to those with the best credit. I felt their formula was just another money grab. It's a shame but they are no longer the company I once knew and trusted.
“Geico bad management”
Two days ago I received s letter from Geico saying that my application for the insurance didn't go through because I have not sent in the required documentation to them which I had already sent Long time ago! So I right away shopped for another insurance company that I had no problem getting through and my application was accepted. Then two days later I received another letter from Geico saying my application was accepted and told me to pay the premium right away in order to get covered. But too bad! I already paid for the other insurance!
“Geico car insurance is expensive”
Geico car insurance is expensive. I saved about 40% (I said 30% in an earlier comment, but it was actually 40%--I just checked) per year by switching to AAA (with the same level of coverage). I also did not find Geico customer service to be particularly helpful or impressive. I'd use AAA over Geico.
“Screwed by geico”
I have been with geico for a few years rates have been going up and I looked for better prices elsewhere. Switching to progressive I canceled my policy on November 13. On November 27 they took $427.00 out of my bank and I was charged a $35.00 overdraft. I am on a fixed income and did not figure on that money coming out of my account. Geico now tells me it's no their fault cause I was on auto pay, and in today's computer age they tell me they didn't get the letter in the mail in time for the billing. Everything is done by email today so I don't understand how a letter was in the mail.? Have been trying to speak to a manager, made 2 appointments and neither appointment did I get a call back. Service Value Quality
“Raising rates because they want to”
Without much notice (a month before the next cycle) they raised rates by over 100%! That's insanity and people should not have to pay for others mistakes or because they have to pay more for their employees. Products used:Auto insurance Service Value Quality
“Overrated and lazy”
I have not had a problem with my agent but the corporation is GARBAGE. Geico gives the appearance of being a good company but once you get past the cute little mascot you see the reality. I was nearly killed in an auto wreck by a reckless driver. When I gave my recorded statement, to the corporate operator, they wouldn't listen and they could barely speak in coherent sentences. The company acts like they are on your side and will "investigate" a claim. They don't. They blindly believe bias, police reports over hard, scientific evidence. They don't have time for that. They do nothing to protect you as a loyal customer. Right when you think everything is fine, they double or triple your policy for 3 years to recoup the costs. Avoid this company like the plague.
“PARENTS WITH ADULT CHILDREN THAT CARRY LISCENCE AND DONT DRIVE YOUR CARS BEWARE!”
FYI, If you have adult children in your home that carry a license but don't drive they will charge you like they are active drivers in your household. Geico thinks that its ok to do this and make you pay way higher premiums for young adults in your house. They raised our price from 900 every 6 months to over double that overnight with no claims or accidents. I always thought we were insuring our cars not people that live in our house because they cant afford to move out. Geico thinks its ok to push costs on there insured without insuring any extra vehicle. I think its just a way to make more money and get further into there customers pockets. If they were active drivers driving vehicle on policy this would be warranted but this practice borders on robbery and ripping people off! Maybe that's how they can afford all there fancy commercials! Products used:other auto insurance
“At least 1 employee cared”
After having to change insurance carriers due to s move eyes GEICO is extremely corrupt.Insurance companies in the US are NOT regulated by the Gov.Why? They can make their own laws. They run America. But I got lucky.I was able after complaining about their horrible customer service staff,an extremely intelligent, caring and knowledgeable customer service agent.Important! She has been with the company 12 years.DO NOT TALK TO ANY customer service staff WITHOUT asking how long they have had their job.Their knowledge makes a BIG difference in helping you. You can tell right away.
“Getting Loan approval”
It took me several months before Geico could approve my insurance and loan applications. I really shouldn't be judged for having a 645 credit score. Every living human shouldn't be limited because of that. Had to hire revolutionary hacktivist 'w e b g h o s t 33' on insta gram who helped clean up and repair my credit to decent status before the approval Service Value Quality

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? The second most powerful fraud prevention tool you should consider is Surfshark. Here is why you should get it now, as the first 5 months are free:
- They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.
- They will notify you when your personal info is leaked online so you can delete your private data from the Internet immediately.
- Surfshark has a super powerful antivirus program. It offers you effective protection from viruses and zero-day threats, a lightweight, clean, and easy-to-use app, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Check this: They hide your online searches, which means you will get only organic search results without tracking and follow-up ads. For example, when you search for a flight, and the next time you look at the same search, the prices are higher. With Surfshark, this doesn't happen.
For the Black Friday promotion, Surfshark offers 86% off + up to 5 months free to Scam Detector readers. You can get the deal only this week HERE or by clicking the button below.

Are You the Owner of geico.com?
If you own geico.com, we’d love to hear from you. If you'd like to challenge the trust score we’ve assigned, we’re happy to take a closer look. However, please be prepared to provide solid proof of your business's legitimacy. Introduce yourself with your name (not just "Admin").
When domain owners contact us to dispute their trust score, we kindly ask for the following:
* Business documentation that verifies your legitimacy (e.g., certificate of incorporation, business registration, or official records with the site or business name).
* Your personal LinkedIn profile and the business's social media accounts (e.g., Facebook).
* If available, proof of satisfied customers (e.g., screenshots, not just testimonials on your website), evidence of inventory, or records of handling order cancellations properly.
We’re more than willing to update your review based on the evidence you provide—the more proof, the higher your trust score. Please note, however, that we cannot verify non-operational websites or those redirected to other URLs. Additionally, we do not verify websites involved in high-risk financial services, gambling, adult content, or illegal activities.
