I love Dog Standards because it’s one of only two Canadian fresh food brands many veterinarians trust to provide safe, high-quality nutrition for dogs.You might be surprised to learn that, in Canada, the nutrient content of pet food is not regulated or inspected. This means some products on the market may be improperly formulated and even harmful to pets. While all companies will tell you their food is the best and designed by a ‘panel of experts’, it’s important to always question whether this is truly the case. Unfortunately these claims can sometimes be misleading and are often difficult to verify without doing some detective work.In 2024, our clinic reached out to all gently cooked pet food companies with products available in Canada. Questions were asked about their quality control standards, adherence to AAFCO Nutrient Profiles to ensure complete and balanced nutrition, the credentials of their experts to confirm a qualified nutritionist was on staff or available as a consultant, and whether they conducted proper batch laboratory testing for nutrient content, pathogens, and heavy metals. Many companies were unwilling to answer or discuss these questions. Of the 13 companies contacted, only two met our criteria for nutrition and safety, while also being transparent and supportive of a veterinarian’s questions — Dog Standards was one of them!Yes, their food is delicious, made with great ingredients, the staff is super friendly, and their food delivery service is convenient! I've absolutely fallen in love with this company. Balto's skin, fur and joints have never been in better condition. He eats the best food for the best life so he can live as long as possible. Dog Standards paired with exercise and supplements have helped him get back on track with his weight loss goals post-surgery. He's full of energy, smells great and is loving his life. Can't wait for more recipes. 👀

My dog Fin has been eating Dog Standards for about a year now, since his vet strongly suggested taking him off a raw diet after he had to have teeth removed due to dental bacterial buildup. The ingredients are healthy and seem fresh. I also like that it's a Canadian company and that the packaging is super easy to open and manage. Delivery is useful but I wish there was a way to minimize the packaging. Still 5 stars overall!

I am so glad that I found Dog Standards!My dog lost her few extra pounds, has more energy and her bowel movements have never been so good and no gas as she has always had issues with her digestion. The quality of the food is unbelievable and for such fresh food that I receive the same day it is shipped ( I live in Ontario) the price is pretty reasonable. I was paying about $100 more a month for N&D canned food and it was no where near the quality and had a lot of supply issues. I tell everyone I can about this food. Well worth every penny!!

Hello, disappointed that the person on the chat got my name wrong. Also seemed to not know our order and our history, we live in burnaby B C our deliveries are every second Wednesday and has been that way since we started to have Boo's food delivered to our home. The person on the chat did not let me know that time was needed to look into my situation and left me waiting. I got frustrated because of that. On a positive note, everything was figured out and we will continue to use Dog Standards service.

My Egyptian rescue Golden Retriever has a sensitive stomach. We have tried various foods in the past such as raw or kibble with raw, but they wouldn't be great for his system. As a millennial dog mom, obsessed with her dog, I am so glad to have found Dog Standards! I am so confident in the ingredients that are helping him live a healthier and longer life. Since I have switched Toby’s food to Dog Standers, his coat has improved to a much healthier and shinny fur. His nutrition has improved, rarely does he throw up or have diarrhea. Toby loved his meals and is always ready to eat, never skips a meal. The nutrients and vitamins packed into each portion is essential to our fur baby’s good health.I highly recommend the food from Dog Standars, you will not regret it.

I've been using Dog Standards for my pup, and the results have been fantastic. Since switching to their fresh dog food, my dog is noticeably more excited at feeding time and has a lot more energy. Plus, I've seen improvements in some of her health issues, which is a huge relief. The quality of the ingredients really shows, and I love knowing she’s eating something nutritious. I've been a Dog Standards customer since my dog was a puppy, so around 3 years now, and I can't imagine switching her to any other meal. I always wanted to put her on fresh food, but don't have the means to cook for her myself, and love the convenience of having her meals delivered to my door. She loves them, and I appreciate so much that they are fully nutrient balanced, so I know she's getting all the nutrients she needs.

My puppy was so picky that she would rather starve than eat something she didn't like, and then when she would finally eat something it would give her terrible GI issues. We quite literally tried everything (different types of kibble and wet food, raw) - super frustrating. After months of struggling, we decided to try gently cooked and ordered the Turkey Recipe. It was a hit with the pup. She has been on the Turkey Recipe since June, and her GI issues have calmed. She is thriving on the diet - huge relief for everyone! Also super convenient that it shows up at our door every two weeks

I have had my 6 year old Shichon Rocky on Dog Standards food for a year now ,& I couldn’t be more happier. The quality of food , quick responses to any of my questions or concerns is like no other. I trust the owner of Dog Standards and everything she stands for when it comes to our fur babies. Rocky is happy , content with his every meal and I do notice a big change in his fur since switching him over.

Great quality food and my Pomeranian LOVES it. He has a sensitive stomach and the turkey formula has been amazing. I feel so happy giving him food I finally know I can trust to keep him healthy longer!

I absolutely love this dog food brand, we have been with them since day 1 when my dog was a puppy and have never looked back. They are so helpful, kind, patient and understanding when you email in for support and of course the food is great and my dog loves it. He is so fussy and I tried so many options before coming across Dog Standards at a market a few years ago. I nearly declined the offer of the free sample, as it can be a bit embarassing when your dog turs his nose up at food but before I could even say that he had chowed down on two! Really appreciate the personal element of the business too, I know i'm speaking and working with real people and it's such great quality food, I know exactly what my dog is eating and he is the healthiest, happiest and shiniest boy!

My Maverick is the pickiest eater, I’ve never owned a picky eater before so this is a first for me. He also has allergies which I have dealt with. But when I tell you I’ve tried everything for this pooch, I’ve tried everything! He can’t have chicken or turkey, pork or lamb, he could have salmon or venison but he does not like either just walks away from them. He walks away from all sorts of food, the Vet was so concerned about his weight. And then I found Dog Standards, we get the turkey and pumpkin and the beef and carrots and he LOVES it ! He’s happy, I’m happy, he gained some weight so the Vet is happy too and it works with his allergies ! I’m so glad that Maverick gets so excited for his dinner now, it’s amazing, thank you Dog Standards !

We love Dog Standards. The food arrived ... still almost frozen. Our dog loves it as she is getting old and has trouble eating dry kibble. She now gets up early and is begging for her brekkie and same at dinner time!She is 14 years old and is now very energetic and active for her age.We will continue with this food for the rest of her life!!

My corgi loves this food, it makes her coat healthy and teeth, healthy weight, and poops; it’s expensive but I suppose you get what you pay for in this life of a dog .

4 days after my order, it was shipped out on a Thursday, and I didn't receive the box until the next Tuesday. Trust me when I say my room smelled like shXt when I opened the box. 1. Why will a fresh dog food company NOT ship the package with express delivery? 2. There doesn’t seem to be any kind of ice or cooling mechanism in the box. Even if it’s delivered next day, I doubt the food will still be fresh after being in room temperature for a day.
