Is codecademy.com Legit?

I've been studying Python, Data Science, and AI for a few months now, and I'm making good progress. Codecademy offers an extensive range of courses, with a strong focus on practice. The Skills and Career Paths are the most in-depth options, but there are also short courses that cover niche topics.I’m impressed with their efforts to build small communities on the platform by organizing regular online meetups where people can share their learning progress and network. Their partnership with the job search website Handshake is also pretty cool, showing their commitment to helping users achieve their ultimate goals.They have also included an AI assistant in the code editor, which is simply a game changer! It works really well and makes learning so much easier—it's almost like having a teacher sitting right next to you.Overall, I really enjoy the platform—it's great value for money. For someone like me, living in a small town without access to big-city learning resources, having a tool like Codecademy is essential. I'm working toward a career change, and this platform gives me hope that it will be possible. Thanks, Codecademy!

They might have good software guidance, but otherwise they are a fraud.I took their free trial. I canceled the subscription immediately, to not be charged by mistake, in case I discover they are not what I am looking for. After the trial period passed, they offered to extend it with a few more days.What they did not mentioned loud and clear, was that after this new extension, the 1-year subscription payment will be done automatically.They just took 178$ from my account. I wrote to them immediately, explaining it was a mistake, I didn't even have the time to use their platfirm during the trial period and asking them to kindly cancel my subscription, delete or block my account and refund.They ignored me up to this day. A year has passed, but they never did anything about this.

I'm currently learning Python, since I am following the data analyst path and it is really nice. I really like the platform, the quizzes that help you remember what you are learning, everything. Of course it is not enough, you have to practice a lot with other projects, but it is a really good start. Theory and practice are nicely mixed together.

After having taken academic courses and read books on Computer Science, I can state without any doubt that Codecademy LLC is the best coding-learning provider on the market. The perfectly balanced theory-practice approach, the advanced coding platform, the passionate forum community and the optimal didactical offer make you dive into the best enviroment to learn coding. Absolutely suggest it!

These are honestly the worst explanations I've ever seen. the material is actual garbage. you honestly will learn nothing here I've been learning full stack for 4 months and I feel like I've learned nothing but they've made my previous knowledge even worse. They tell you stuff they haven't taught you then give you the worst explanations, what's worse is they'll give you practice questions like on javascript and they honestly go out of their way to make it as confusing as possible till you're sitting there confused and not wondering what you're supposed to do. I actually hate this course don't waste your money if you have this

I took advantage of the Codeacademy free trial for a week. The course I tried out was the data science one, the content seems great and a nice UI. I didn’t end up continuing the trial, and I forgot to cancel, but Codeacademy generously refunded. After seeing their negative reviews, it seems Codeacademy have made it much easier to pause, or cancel your subscription.

Garbage, I was forced to use their dubious services back in highschool and the instructions and tutorials there suuuuuck! I was stuck for days trying to figure out how to do a proper infinite loop without crashing my browser and nothing I did worked, all because Codecademy didn't give me clear and concise instructions on how to do a proper infinite loop that wouldn't cause a crash. Screw that website with a pineapple. It killed any and all interest or passion I had for coding.

Been using it for 3y. Started with the very basics by learning Python, then onto Full Stack Web development and currently on ASP.NET.By far the most beginner friendly platform to learn programming and I settled for it after trying other platforms such as Udacity and Udemy. Also have good customer service e.g. refunded me when i signed up to Pro instead of Plus by mistake.

I am learning a lot on codecademy. The learning experience is fun and reading material is not boring. When you create project has you check off each task with clear instructions. It is a little expensive but if you pay yearly it is great! Highly recommend!

Codacademy is quite a useful learning tool, but I wouldn’t recommend using it exclusively. Without buying a membership (Pro) there is no real way to effectively ensure that you won’t forget everything you’ve learned in a few days. I would advise using an instructive book or other learning tool along with Codacademy to make the concept more memorable.

I'm a retired embedded SW engineer mostly working in C, but also some experience in Pascal, OCCAM, Modula and Natural. For fun, I just want to learn another language (Javascript) to enhance the web page of our Repair Café. I do not need to learn programming principles, just the new language. For me Codecademy, is not the right place. I switched to w3schools where I can go faster, connection to html is included from the beginning and I can take short cuts when usefull

Their python console is terrible! The button that will automatically test if a solution is correct will flag by default, even in the easiest exercises, a wrong answer, and then, with absolute no changes, will accept the solution. I cannot even imagine what will be the effects on a user's confidence in more difficult exercises because of their bug. A huge minus? No way to address the bug to a human agent. Their chatbot is extremely rudimentary for a company that is supposedly teaching some AI courses.I have a video which demonstrates how buggy is their platform for python. In bash exercises I didn't have problems.

Codecademy is a good place to begin with if you are just starting your coding journey. It's accessible and user friendly. The courses are mostly basic but well-paced; Help options are there if you get stuck. All in all, you will not make a mistake joining Codecademy. The reason why I gave only 3 stars is that platform itself still has some issues that need to be addressed. For instance, during learning I lost progress on several occasions, which is not great.

The website and layout look very nice, but often the examples are very, very easy,It's a lot of, "monkey see, monkey do" learning, given the exact code what you need to type, which is not a way to learn, especially with coding. It should be encouraged that you try and fiddle around and figure stuff out yourself first a lot, which is imo the best way to learn code, of course keeping an option to give the answer if you can't figure it out.Also the examples given could be more oriented to what you'll actually use the code for later on.

Very informative and easy to understand lessons. Love that I can learn at my own pace, on my own schedule. Love that I have an opportunity to review every lesson by putting it in context with test code. Could not recommend code academy more, I’m truly enjoying myself.

Been wanting to change careers for a few years now, but with the amount of time I work I didn't think I'd have time to take college classes and get job ready skills. With Codecademy I feel like I'm learning job relevant skills in the time I have. Plus the training is done in a hands on way that works well with the way I remember things. So far my experience has been great and I'm looking forward to being able to put my life on a new path.

I contacted Codecademy asking to fix my course progress and to change my email address. As I wasn't getting any reply from them for 5 weeks I kept writing them and asking for assistance.Codecademy agent was above incompetent. Even a child from the 5th grade would be able to copy the email address and would write it incorrect 4 times.I am still trying to communicate with them, but I am really loosing my hope as they don't read what I write and ignore whatever I am saying. If I would have known that such people will be dealing with my queries, I wouldn't have paid 3000£ for the course.

I paid for a prolite subscription after 7 day free trial I cannot log into my account as my password(saved in my keychain) no longer works. I tried resetting numerous times but have not received the reset email. After much work trying to contact via twitter i finally got some help. The contact needs to be easier

I've used Codecademy for about a year, and for basics it's ok. I've learned Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and a few other concepts/languages. All along the way, I've fought broken content, site glitches, and poorly explained concepts. So many times they will tell you what to do and how to do it(in a limited context), but very rarely why. Only used it so long for guidance on what to learn next, because I paid for the year pro subscription, but I've needed to rely on youtube to understand any remotely complicated topics. Would not recommend, especially if you have no previous IT or coding experience

I'm currently doing the full stack path. It has been a smooth learning process. From basic to more complex concepts, the curriculum is laid out very well. Also, along the course, you start setting up your environment to do the challenges of Codecademy. The platform is way better than just a "code-along" video tutorial on youtube when trying to learn any programming language. The hands-on approach Codecademy have is delightful. Although some exercises may lack context, some are too hard or too easy. Still, overall, the curriculum is very well balanced, and challenges are very accurate for gathering momentum.The only platform that can compare is Datacamp(I tried it also, and it's maybe better for data science), but for the web stack, Codecademy is the best I've found so far. I'm very grateful for Codecademy. Kudos! Very nice job!
