Is ancestry.com Legit?

Constant communication was helpful from Ancestry as my DNA was as received and testing was completed. Giving tips on what to expect was stress relieving. I feel like the wait time for the kit to arrive was very long. I appreciated that my results were completed sooner than expected! A few of my traits were not on point for example.. I adore cilantro. Your results showed I inherited a don’t like cilantro trait from both of my parents. And PS I’m very strong and can also curl my tongue like a champ!I grew up never knowing a single cousin and now I have a kazillion! I’m hoping to be able to connect with some. 🙂

It was horrible. I canceled on May 2024 but was told that it wasn’t cancelled. So I’ve been charged 3 more $105 charges not knowing my account was no canceled. What a scam! My phone subscription section says it was cancelled but you have some crazy policy that bypasses normal business practices to trick your customers into paying when they don’t realize the extra step you put in there…. Unreal

I did this test to determine my ancestry. Everything went according to schedule. The company was very good about keeping me updated. The test took about 18 days once the sample was received. Which was pretty quick. Thanks to the scientists/geneticists who helped me determine my ancestry. I come from no less than 7 European homelands.

bought a DNA test, most people online claim to here back after 20days or so,31 days later i contacted Ancestry to be told, we haven't got it.....lets start it all again with a quick sorry.As someone who used to work customer service i would have offered the priority as an apology, not ancestry the word sorry is enough, so i have to start again. May update in a couple of months if i ever hear back from ancestry but i doubt it, till then i will keep slagging them off on review sites and forums.

I learned after the fact that the only family matches are from those purchased through Ancestry and not from other similar companies. That pretty much renders it useless from my limited perspective. Also, the range of information that comes with the actual DNA test is so limited I feel like I wasted my time and money.

It was done fairly quick. I wanted to have something in print, but printing relatives was a difficult task as I could never get the bottom relatives on a page to print.I would prefer my name to show as Patsy Topping Andersen.

It was excellent! I loved the mystery, it was exciting! The details given and the hints leading up to the results, then receiving the information was fantastic! I'm still eager to learn more, will take my time and enjoy the search!

After dealing with being overcharged for years, I managed to get a year's subscription free (although I had been told that I would actually get 2 years' free). At the end of that year, I had decided to cancel my subscription as it is getting ridiculously expensive. I called to PAUSE my subscription for a month on Jan. 2nd but instead was charged the renewal fee on Jan. 11th!

Got my results in a reasonable time--very surprised, in an exciting good way about the results. The home page and other pages are so full of additional financial expenditure suggestions, that is very hard to decipher, at times.Would like to know how to get more genomic information--is that possible. such as cancer risks, metabolic disease risk, etc, which is what I got from 23andme when it was in business.

I was pleasantly surprised by my results, and enjoyed the informative response letting me know the step by step process. Including the maps and explaining the regions. I truly enjoyed this experience was a wonderful gift from my son.

The results seem to lack any in depth analysis and rather just a simple match of DNA. Lacks any information of origin and confluence between regions and people over time

It was quiet an experience, sending over my sample was the easiest part. Waiting took a lot of patience, although my results did arrive sooner than expected. receiving results first hand through an the app was convenient but these are a few things I’d say ancestry has to work on:Spending more time on specific regions, for people to have easier access to relocate family members, to hopefully one day visit. The overall region was helpful, but I would have liked a little more detail on the whereabouts within those regions. Also they tried to pair me with about 13,000 people solely due to our dna matches instead of family accuracy. I’d like for ancestry to have two sections, one for those who are accurately and relevantly related to you, and those you they MIGHT think have some sort of relation to you. Because I was ready to claim cousins left and right, but are they really a part of my family tree? Is it this many of us? So it was hard to differentiate who was who? And who was real? Over all very informative experience, I can’t wait to expand and find the rest of my family tree.

The process was simple but when the results came in, it was very difficult to find the one reason I purchased the test. I was very interested where my ancestors lived. All i could get to that I didn't have dimples plus other unimportant information. I finally found what I was looking for but it took quite a while of trial and error. It kept taking me to ads for additional purchases.

I've waited a long time to look into my ethnic roots. As a adopted adult at the age of 51 I've never had a need to know my birth family but I've always been curious what ethnicity I am. This was an easy to follow process and provided results that I've been looking forward to for a long time

I did a dna test with the police at hospital and ancestry was completely wrong. None of the results match leaving to think ancestry is not worth it at any price. I did the test because I’m adopted and your test was a joke or you used someone else’s dna. Not happy customer

I found out that my family comes from many different places that I didn't expect. I thinking the process of how they do things is fascinating. I would recommend anyone to find out who they are.

It was not accurate...the locations and traits...example my Mother was 100% Bohemian now the Republic Czech. That should have showed to be 50% of my DNA. Regarding the traits...who you describe is not me. It looks like some generic BS having nothing directly to do with me.
