americangreetings.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives americangreetings.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 89.4. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 89.4 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to americangreetings.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning americangreetings.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between americangreetings.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of americangreetings.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of americangreetings.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. americangreetings.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether americangreetings.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether americangreetings.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, americangreetings.com.

Terrible company with terrible customer service. If I could give zero I would.
Thus company will be out of business SOON!!!- website is horrible, no way to renew membership. - called and representative spoke little ENGLISH- told me to renew on line!- told rep 4 times. I tried numerous to renew on line, but couldn't -Rep too lazy to take credit card information - Argued with me!!!
If I could give a 0, I would. I never leave negative reviews until now. Please don't join American Greetings online. They cheat you and charge you even when you cancel within the trial period. They also kied about the fee when I called. It is not $6.99 as I was told but $29.99.Customer Service is horrible and we are fighting this unfair and dishonest charge. Awful company with very poor reviews on Yelp, too.Buyer Beware!
It's a wonderful service, WHEN it works, but if you have any trouble logging in or sending a card, the customer support is virtually worthless. Maybe maybe two or three days later you get what I believe is a bot with instructions on how to login and those instructions are worthless. I had the service for a year, and was logged out at least three times and could never get satisfactory response. Someone in this company needs to step up to the plate and get these deficiencies fixed.
American Greetings, while they do send notices of upcoming renewals, do not mention the ridiculous price that, were it provided, would be a definite point-of-persuasion to cancel! It simply is not worth that price, especially if it is not used much. It's a waste of money!!
Total bait and switch! They do not give you your money back and cancel despite you doing exactly what you are told to do by the 7th day of the trial period. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! Not American at all! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
I have been extremely happy with a subscriptions for years, today I’m ready to cancel. Instead of letting me copy a link for texting, etc a card was sent to a list of people I did not want to have the card. There was no previous information explaining this to me.
I would stay far away from subscribing to American Greetings digital membership. If you forget to unsubscribe and do not check the "do no renew" box, you will be charged another $29.99 for a year membership. If your credit card is not up to date, they will get authorization from the credit card company on file to charge you without your knowledge.
I highly advice you DO NOT sign up with this company. There is no way to cancel your account own your own. I have sent 3 requests to cancel my account with zero response. Read the rest of the reviews below, and you will quickly see that the 7-day free trial will end up with your credit/debit/PayPal account being charged regardless of you cancelling your account. Report and complaint has been filed with the Better Business Bureau.
There is no option to customize the name of the recipient unless it is listed in their drop down menu. For example, I wanted a card for my friend Lil but that isn't an option
Seriously, maybe you should write on your cards "adult content" so us who are not familiar with sexual content music do not spend $10 on a card for an autistic child.Autistic child like the music and movement cards bring but you have to make the nasty! After I bought the card "in a world full of Kale smoothies" and the bouncing milkshake grab their attention. It was not until I really heard the words when I got home it was cursing and insinuations. So disappoint with American Greetings. Might want to change you tagline. THIS IS NOT "THOUGHTFUL AND CARING".
American Greetings is okay, however, you can have a positive experience as long as you log out after each card you send. DO NOT send more than one card at a time especially the smash-ups. You have to keep logging out after each card or their system will mess it up come delivery day.
Nothing like the paper card reputation. Seems like they bought rights to the name and host an awful eCard interface. I mean, the whole point is to send out my 55-75 eCards, right? Not if you're on their site -- max 50. You don't learn this until you have paid for a membership. Plus there are better sites, which are more affordable, which provide more professional content. I paid for a 2 year membership and cannot get a refund, even partial. Even the free, cheesy, ad-driven eCards are better than this company. Save your money!
I’ve been a customer for almost a year now. There is no way the annual subscription cost could ever pay for all the joy, smiles, laughs & happiness I have shared continuously with family & friends. The selection continues to grow & astound me - will definitely renew next year!!!
This place is a disgrace. I went to sign up for a "FREE TRIAL" to send my daughter a special e-card for her birthday . Right away they ask for credit card info which in some ways ok it's for when the trial ends i suppose. I'm ok with that, However they are trying to charge me ALREADY yet I hadnt even gotten to try it out yet. How greedy can one be? At least let me experience the trial before you decide to bill me.
I tried several times and many minutes to "Start My Free Trial" and every time there was a problem with the payment. I checked the balance on my card and there were sufficient funds to cover the automatic billing for a year, so I don't know what the problem was. Fine by me if they don't want my money, I'll spend it elsewhere.
This review is for the e-card service.1-Does not work with all browsers2-In many cases e-cards get routed to recipients spam folder..they have no reasonable workaround3-Requested pro-rated refund...instead they canceled the account that still had over a year's prepayment applied to it. AND NO REFUND.4-IMO the employees are clueless, and business practices suspect.
What a terrible product. You can't edit, i.e., change margins or spacing. I called customer service and got a message that "due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closed". Please call back during normal business hours (I made the call during those hours).
American Greetings cards have now become politically biased and when I attempted to voice a complaint they refused to publish it on two separate occasions When you try to contact them at the email address provided, it goes to a no reply box. If you can't take criticism, you can't take my money. Will be insisting on a refund for the balance of the term.
Like many others here, I feel completely ripped off by American Greetings ecards. Do not fall for their 7 day trial offer... it is near impossible to cancel their Auto renew payments. After several attempts, I finally got an acknowledgement from their customer service but no mention of refund. Sorry to see a time-honored trusted company like American Greetings submit customers to such underhanded tactics.

“Boss”
I worked for this company for 4 years. Worse boss I ever had. Never communicated to see if I needed anything or how things were going. Tried to call and text. She said she don't use work phone on weekends. Buy cards just don't work for them.
“Management SUCKS from the HR dept to supervisors”
You will be fine as long as you KISS the Nepotistic Supervisors $#*! & try not to voice your ideas about improvement,,Apperently if you Kiss Tim Sweets $#*! {or have "relations")with him you are good to go the Danville Location is a JOKE if you are looking for a job... avoid the Danville Ky location at ALL costs
“Subscription service. Do NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!”
I contacted them 3 times last year to cancel my subscription the latest was 10/5/2023. The email response was it would be canceled in 2024. I re-contacted them today and they said my subscription could not be canceled until 2025
“Good Name Lost”
American Greeting I believe was once a credible brand. Unfortunately, if my experience with their website is any indication I can say they have surely lost their way. Pages don't load, links don't work it's like the Company simply can't keep up. Someone should buy this Company, invest in its tech, and people, and make it relevant again, It has the potential but severely lacking in its execution, so sad. Products used:Website Service Value
“Not a good value for benefits offered.”
Not a good value for subscription membership. You are better off making your own e-card and sending the person an e-gift card via whatever retailer/vendor you choose... When I called to cancel, they stopped the membership but could not refund what I was charged today, for the month ahead. So I am paying for a month's worth of services that I will not utilize. If customers considered returning, this policy (non-refundable subscription) would certainly turn them off not to return.
“DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!”
This company has become politically biased in its' e cards. When attempting to voice a complaint, they would not publish either of 2 reviews I attempted to post. When you try to reply to their emails, they go to a "no reply" box. I'm demanding a refund of the balance of time remaining on my contract and will make sure they cannot auto renew by notifying my credit card.
“Don't do the free-trial”
What a scam! I did the 7-day free trial but two days later I immediately cancelled it because I didn't want to be charged for the membership. Well, guess what happened after the 7 day "free" trial? I got charged for the month. I wrote immediately to the customer service. It has been 4 days and I haven't heard from them. I'll try to call tomorrow but what I've read from other reviews, this company will not do anything to help out. Oh, and during the free-trial I sent a birthday card to my sister and she could not open it. Only on the second try but the surprise was gone!
“Do not buy thier gift cards! They don't work.”
I like American greeting cards and have used them for years. I recently purchased two gift cards for two large Canadian grocery stores for my son and employee, a total of $450. Neither worked, and I could not get any customer service. I'm forced to file a dispute through my credit card company. The company that supposedly sources them is called JIFITY. Their reply email stated that it was too bad they were redeemed when they were not. Tip for consumers:Tried to inform American greetings. Email-only, no response to date.it's been several days. Products used:gift cards Service Value Returns Quality
“Automatic renewal”
They renew automatically and when you find out they won't refund. "We are sorry if your membership renewal has caused you any inconvenience. Our memberships are designed to automatically renew so that you can enjoy continuous, uninterrupted service, as was described in our Terms of Service when you ordered our service." I think it's a sheer rip off.
“Bad and Sad”
The functionality of their website for sending E-cards is extremely poor. It seems as though the site is very poorly developed and maintained. They either need to get some coders in to fix it or close their doors. Customer support is nonexistent — no response to emails and no response to phone calls. If I owned this website, I would be truly embarrassed. Tip for consumers:Someone should purchase this business, invest a relatively small amount of money, re-tool, and bring it back to life. It desperately needs CPR. Products used:I attempted to send several ecards after signing up for a monthly membership.
“Rip off!”
I thought I was buying one card. Went to do my taxes and had a good look at the my credit card statements. Looks like they've been charging me for the last year! Called them and they "generously" reimbursed me for six months. Don't do business with this company!
“American Greetings.com tried to rip me off of $6.99 for so-called free trial!”
I tried American Greetings.com for the 7 day free trial. I tried the service and tried to cancel the trial and was unable to do so online. No button to cancel--nothing! Then, of course, I was charged the fee anyway. Biggest company scam ever. People need to file a lawsuit against companies like this and their truly awful website. Misleading people like me left and right it looks like from what I've been reading online. Tip for consumers:DO NOT TRY 7-DAY FREE TRIAL!!! If you decide this is not for you and try to cancel the "free" trial, you will be charged anyway. Then, when you contact customer service, they will refuse to help you and be mean, rude, and even hang up on you. Products used:E-cards Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Very frustrating”
Very difficult to send a card on the App. Most of the time it doesn't work and I have to do it on a computer. They have cute cards, but the effort isn't worth it. I might as well go to the store or just send best wishes via email. By the time I get done fiddling with this, there is no fun left. I just cancelled my membership. Tip for consumers:The 'fail to send' rate is pretty high. Hope you have a lot of patience! I'd be afraid to send a gift card with the ecard. Products used:E cards. Service Value Shipping Quality
“One at a time.”
American Greetings is okay, however, you can have a positive experience as long as you log out after each card you send. DO NOT send more than one card at a time especially the smash-ups. You have to keep logging out after each card or their system will mess it up come delivery day.
“Dishonest”
I signed up for a supposed "free" 1 week trial. I tried to cancel the next day, but there is no such option. So I emailed them. They took over a week to get back to me and had charged me for a month subscription with a note that they don't give refunds! I had to get my credit card company to force them to refund me. They are actually the company behind several supposed free ecard sites. They fooled me twice but never again! Tip for consumers:DON'T use any site owned ny American Greetings. Products used:Sent one bday ecard. Service Value Returns Quality
“Do not refund when cancel free trial”
I signed up for free trial but they insist on 29.99 PayPal so I gave them info and was charged. I cancelled and no refund forthcoming so I called and am getting a refund but was told the refund is never automatic. That is called fraud.
“Site doesn't work, they blame apple”
Have had the service for quite sometime… cards are very cute… however have constant trouble with the website… now there is a whole major problem for iPhone users where it simply doesn't load… American greetings blames apple and say it is not their problem or their responsibility to find a fix… and they are very arrogant about it as well…. Have an iPhone?… STAY AWAY! Service Value Quality
“Sad just sad”
Tonight I made a great ecard for the grandkids about quarantine and staying connected, I scheduled it to send tomorrow, and it got lost AGAIN somehow. Very frustrating, make a card and it never saved, it happens often. Read below a review I did last year on Google. Extremely disappointing company, great Ecards, my grandchildren especially love when I send them talking cards. However, the most disappointing is when your schedule ecard to be sent on a holiday, like valentines day, thanksgiving etc. American Greetings usually can not deliver the card, or if you are sending out 5 cards only 2 or 3 get delivered that holiday. It's extremely disappointing and very upsetting, especially a Valentines card you sent for your daughter that she never gets.
“They called me liar when they lied. Fraud!”
I paid my fee and attempted to send a card. Was told I had to change my password so I did. Then was cut out and told could not send card. Two weeks later I attempted again. Same thing... new PW, then cut out. Tried third time and it was the same. I gave up. Received email for renewal. It stated I sent four cards which I had not. I wrote and said to cancel and I should be refunded. Help answered that they did not tell me I sent four ecards as my account showed I sent none. I do not like being called a liar. I sent the email to them where they stated I had sent four ecards.
“Great but of no use”
I sent a greeting to a friend today that was awesome--very funny and perfect. However I chose to send it via FB. Once it was read once the ability to view the video disappeared. So I deleted it. My friend never saw it. Now I can't get anything to work. Anything on American Greeting takes forever to load; I think forever because I didn't wait that long. This really ruined my experience after spending an hour to try to get the card back without success. Then I couldn't send another card even. I finally joined another greeting card site.
“Avoid - charge for free trial - shocking customer service”
If there was an option to give no stars, I would have chosen it. I signed up for a trial offer and the next day they took money from my account. Took a month to get the money back and when I did I didn't get the same amount. This was due to me being in UK and the exchange rates on the day they shouldn't have taken the money and the day it was refunded being different. The bank also charged for the transaction each time. American Greetings take no responsibility for this and won't offer any further monetary refund even though it was their fault in the first place by taking the money! Avoid, avoid, avoid! Service Value
“My eCards were NOT in Sent..”
American Greetings, was not at all helpful And that I will be forced to give them a bad review! My eCards were NOT in Sent. ECards, were never sent!.even though I did resend them 2ce! And this has happened on multiple occasions! Even though, the email addresses of the recipients are correct... & they are NOT in their Spam or Junk folders...so it is indeed unfortunate that American Greetings refuse to do the right thing & THat that your memberships are nonrefundable...and that I thus will be forced to give you a bad review! Blue Mntn is much better! I will return to them!
“Free Trial Trickery”
Along the same lines as other reviews, the service appears to work fine, but they definitely trick you into paying for a subscription that is advertised as a "free trial". Upon signing up for the free trial period, they make you select a subscription option for when the trial is over, but apparently selecting one activates your actual membership and closes your free trial period. After sending the card that made me want to start a trial in the first place, I found the rest of their offerings to be lacking and requested a cancelation of my membership prior to the end of my free trial. I did this by email since there is nowhere on their website to cancel the membership (despite a page saying click the button below to cancel your free trial, where their is no button). I did not get a response until after a full week, and the response said they would turn off my auto-renew after my paid year subscription was over. Upon explaining to them I only sent one card during what was supposed to be my trial period, and notified them before the trial period expiration, they refused to refund my annual subscription charge. I find this to be a very dishonest way to do business and highly recommend others do not support this company. Service Value
“Horrible”
I placed an order on September 9 for some party decorations for a birthday on the 21st. The shipping time said 2-5 business days, so I had plenty of time still. I got an email later that day saying that it had shipped. I checked the site and the order was listed as fulfilled and the tracking said that a label was created and USPS was waiting for the package. About a week later, I still did not receive the package. I checked again and the shipping status had not changed, USPS was still waiting to receive the package. I notified them using the form on their site. The next day, since I needed it very soon, I called. After 56 minutes on hold, a representative looked into it and said she had to contact someone in Kentucky. SInce the person was not getting her back to her quickly, she took my number and said I would get a call later that day. That was Friday, the 18th. I filled out their contact form again adding the information about the call. Today, the 21st, is the birthday the decorations were for. Complete silence from American Greetings. I will never order from them again. I cannot attach a photo, since I did not receive the item. My order confirmation gives personal information, and that is my proof of purchase.
“Printing greeting cards”
EMail cards are great, but try to understand how to print one requires a college degree. Impossible for seniors.

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
