alexa.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives alexa.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 82.7. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Reliable. Legitimate. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 82.7 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to alexa.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Reliable. Legitimate. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a reliable and secure website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning alexa.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between alexa.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of alexa.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of alexa.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. alexa.com is an innocuous website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether alexa.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether alexa.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, alexa.com.

Doesn’t really matter what reviewers think. Personally I get very vexed with Alexa echo Dot, 1st Gen. it’s supposed to play what you want but sometimes does then doesn’t find it.Some albums it misses out a song. In fact that is where You Tube is much better, even it’s annoying though. Most bigwig people are, as they simply do not care less. I’m not allowed out of Primejust now. That’s another scam by the way. Supposed to have Alexa unlimited, what a joke.
Alexa.com is one of the longest standing data analytics providers. I've subscribed to both the individual and now, agency plan. Alexa.com delivers some of the most accurate, and well-designed interfaces to help small, medium and even agencies excel online. Well worth the price. In fact, from an agency owners perspective, they much more fairly priced than many of the other tools out there. Highly recommended.
Really poor analytics. Our alleged traffic ranking (alleged according to Alexa) leapt from really high to mega low in a matter of weeks, then shot up again and then down again for no apparent reason. All the while the actual traffic to our website hardly changed at all and in fact during the periods Alexa said we were down in the mire our business actually grew and has continued to grow even though Alexa still ranks us somewhere below the South Pole. This week alone we have dropped by half a million on the Alexa Traffic Rank, yet our website continues to expand and our business and sales continue to grow. In other words, the rankings are completely random and inaccurate. As I said at the start, really poor. A complete joke.
love my alexa its way better than the google pod we had previously so much more choice of music without having to sign up to anything. i love the fact i can say alexa play radio 1 or alexa play radio country and we get the radio stations all streamed free
Absolutely better than Google's and siri! Get yours before holiday disciunts are gone. Understands me 90% of the time (way more than siri or google) and amazing sound from Alexa's speakers. A real assistant!
The analitics working only if you are pay them . I was in 6.000.000 position world wide , next day after subscription cancelation i was on 17.000.000 . So none of the analitisc are aquirate like you can't force me to pay a montly fee to say the truth abouth my website . If i give you no money you are distroing my rank :)) this is blackmail :))
I think its pretty cool how they give you a chance to check out some ratings on websites but it definetly doesn't seem accurate.
I was searching for a listing of search engines. I found that Alexa had "The top 500 sites on the web" and thought that it would be good because Alexa use to list search engines rankings before Amazon bought it. As I went through the listings on Alexa and checked each search engine, I found that at least half of the listed search engines were defunct, no longer search engines, or were companies selling products. Others were now malicious sites that have taken over many of the domain names. I had to be really careful to not infect my computer while checking the urls. The top sites are still in existence but what are their true ranks? There is no way to contact Alexa support unless you sign up for a trial membership. So, you can't even question their data. A membership starts at $149 a month. Certified Alexa Rank starts at $19.99 for 10 million pageviews per month. What are they certifying? What are people really getting for that amount? The information is old. How can site owners be given rankings if Alexa doesn't even know what it is ranking? To me, Alexa is a scam. I would advise website owners to think twice before signing up Alexa.I have images that I can't upload here. See Sitejabber.
Such a powerful and authoritative site, just a shame smaller folks (lower traffic sites) can't make the most of the data available...
The service is great, but the price for the packages is very high. When we do not have a business website or we have little income, we cannot pay a lot for their packages.
3rd gen echo alexa... 14 months later totally stopped working... argos... no warrenty now... typical..... here comes google !
Had a horrible experience with these guys!We tried the tool for 7 days. Just that. And they took 30 days cost! The invoice was raised after 6 days and when we asked them, they told they cant refund it as we mailed them late. See, they were waiting for us to push them for refund, otherwise they will loot your money for no reason.
Beware! Do NOT trust this company with your business information! I hired Alexa Media Marketing to provide SEO and software development for my small business. I provide a niche service where I assist contractors in obtaining their licenses. I gave them access to my website and to proprietary information for the purpose of website marketing, SEO, and software development. Once they had all my business information, the owners of Alexa Media Marketing formed a competing company, “Contractor Licensing Pros LLC” using MY business model and online presence as a benchmark for their competing company. Their contractor licensing website contains information directly from my website. They also hired one of my ex-employees and are misrepresenting her work at my company as their own experience in contractor licensing. I would not trust this business whatsoever with any of your information!
Might not be accurate, but always comes in handy as it allows you to get a snapshot of a website's overall traction
I was told I'd get a two week trial after I paid $2000. I called to cancel and they said that was not true. I was totally baited and switched. Also I never knew there was a monthly charge of $50. Totally was a surprise. Worst of all, what I'm paying for only grants a small fraction of their tools. LAME. Last but not least, there Contact Us page is broken and I can't even complain about it to anyone!!
One of the best tool I’ve ever used! Well I am biased because I have used all the time. I learned a lot thanks to their website. But it is kinda pricey. Some people even don’t know what it is. So i will write it here. Your Alexa Rank is an estimate of how popular your site is relative to all other sites. The Alexa Rank answers the question: Compared to all other sites, how is my site doing? Note that since rank is a relative measure, your site’s rank is not only dependent on that site’s traffic, but also on changes to traffic on other sites. Alexa has a large traffic data panel consisting of millions of people all over the world. Based on the data from this sample, Alexa estimates the number of visitors to all sites on the Internet. It’s a complicated calculation that involves correcting for biases as well as identifying and discarding fake or spam traffic. Our data scientists are the best in the business and they make sure the data we present is free of noise and non-human data, so you can make the best decisions for your business.Every day, Alexa estimates the average daily visitors and pageviews to every site over the past 3 months. The site with the highest combination of visitors and pageviews over the past 3 months is ranked #1. The site with the least is ranked somewhere around 30 million. If no one in our measurement panel visited a site over the past 3 months there is no rank at all for that site.I took these from their blog but I hope it will be helpful for other people
I am not that into SEO but I am learning and this is a great tool for someone who is rather new to the whole thing as me.
Glad that you will retire your "services" . Nothing of use came ever out of this.
alexa.com isn't the microphone in your house that tells the government what you say.it's a website analytics utility website.I've opened the website for about 5 years. it's now, from my point of view, on version 3. version 3 has less information than the version 2 it was on 2 months ago. (version 2 had less then version 1, 5 years ago)they MONEY seem MONEY to MONEY revamp MONEY their MONEY website MONEY every MONEY so MONEY oftenI'm a casual user, just interested in a website general rankings. 2 months ago, alexa (version 2) provided me with a 12 month history. no problems. now (version 3), they don't. they've confirmed that the previous 12 month history they offered for free viewing, is now for paid accounts. free viewing is now 90 day history.version 2 also gave you a nice little latency ping number, so if you thought a site was slow, alexa would confirm that, yes, it did take 3 seconds to load and was slower than 80% of other sites. version 3 doesn't.It would be vaguely interesting to view alexa.com's 90 day ranking history on their website, to see how manypeople use it. It would be even more useful to view alexa.com's 12 months ranking history, but you can't do that anymore. (not only that but the version 2 12 month history, gave you a useful Y-axis scale on the traffic stat history. version 3's 90 day history gives you the data's minimum/maximum end points)there are some sites that give you more than the 90 day history that alexa gives. Version 2 if I recall gave website ranking up to 1 million, version 3 only goes to 100,000So, um, pay, don't pay, do whatever with this site. knock yourself out.here's a review I wrote a couple of years ago (I didn't publish), after they revamped it from version 1, to version 2.(Version 1 gave the information about which sites linked into the website you were enquiring about. version 2 removed that feature. Do you expect me to view? No Mr Bond! I expect you to pay) or, to use focus group language, "people appear to be getting value out of our site, without providing us with anything". apart from word of mouth free publicity. which I won't do anymore.alexa's email support also has an interesting format. you ask a question, the subject of their reply says "your ticket has been resolved". unless it hasn't...in which case....you reply to your resolved ticket.I can't imagine why older people (and sometimes other people) sometimes find the Internet confusingversion 2It's funny how austerity never seems to apply to imaginary software companies. or "the internet of things".alexa firmly falls into the category of sites that 99.9% of the world have never heard of, but the company only sees the traffic stats from that 0.1%, and suddenly thinks there's massive revenue to be made. The result, is that they turn a good, sensible, useable site, into a mess that has "premium membership only" written all over it. when lots of people need a screwdriver, they use a knife. alexa's tools are website information equivalent of a multimeter, and my budget for a multimeter is less than the subscription price many websites ask for. When I own a multimeter, I own a multimeter. Alexas site content changes from week to week as the programmers think of different ways they want to try and extract money. Who knows what the website is going to look like in the next weeks/months, as they try to scrabble as much perceived money from pockets as possible. At a rough glance recently alexa seems to have gone for the microsoft pencil case and rucksack, because it's changed to the cgi 2-colour green blue interface. One of the signs that alexa is not a 'normal' billing site, is that when you cancel your subscription, you loose access immediately. Most billing systems give you access until the re billing date. When you try your subscription service, you learn that it is much less cobbled together than you were hoping for. It isn't a comprehensive utility which is worth a subscription. It's a roughly collected bunch of numbers that they are trying their luck at asking money for. This review absolutely isn't stating that alexa is useless. It isn't. If the alexa site had no purpose, this review wouldn't exist. The only reason for writing this review is because the site has useful info on it, but the programmers seem to want to clutter the site up un necessarily and jump on a subscription model.Alexa.com really is..."the internet of things" (wouldn't survive if it was a high-street business).
seems like most of the data is not that accurate to say the least...

“Alexa offers a robust suite of tools for website analysis that I've personally found invaluable.”

Alexa offers a robust suite of tools for website analysis that I've personally found invaluable. Recommend Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Nice, but Expensive and Inaccurate”

Wonderful analytics, albeit expensive to get the premium service. Word of caution though, their stats are not accurate representations of what's what. Its web traffic reporting only uses data collected from computers with the Alexa toolbar.

“SUCKS! RIP OFF!”

I was told I'd get a two week trial after I paid $2000. They called and said that was not true. I was totally baited and switched. Also I never knew there was a monthly charge of $50. Totally was a surprise. Worst of all, what I'm paying for only grants a small fraction of their tools. $#*!ING LAME. Last but not least, there Contact Us page is broken and I can't even complain about it to anyone!

“I was always interested in Alexa and was interested...”

I was always interested in Alexa and was interested how they got their information. Their information on my site was massively different to google analytic, so I signed up. They said it would take 30 days to get proper stats. So I waited for 30 days, and the results didn't change. Bounce rate showed 40% (when it was less than 10)' visitor locations were way out,,, is was just hopeless. So I ignore them now.

“Alexa is one of the best ways to see what's the highest/most...”

Alexa is one of the best ways to see what's the highest/most visited site on the Internet today. They offer a lot of free tools that can be used to check the status of your website. My favorite feature on alexa would have to be the audience demographic results. It breaks down into categories like age, gender, education, has children, and browsing location. There is also an advanced feature of the audience demographic results, but you have to download & install their toolbar to see the results. The only difference is that they add income and ethnicity to the list of results

“Alexa provides great insight into the traffic and performanc...”

Alexa provides great insight into the traffic and performance of any website. Although the high-end statistics require a subscription that Google Analytics provides free of charge, I understand providing this data publically requires some overhead. Great website to review the performance of your favourite websites; discover new, up and coming websites; or even see how your personally website is doing.

“Customer service (Debbie) leaves wanting”

The product is ok - useful, though there are comparable options out there. I cannot recommend it however, since this is as close to a corporate con as I've ever experienced. After cancelling my 1-week trial on my 2nd day, I was surprised to find out I had been invoiced! Debbie's (pseudo-customer support) response was ridiculous and outright untruthful (spoke of a 2nd trial), and she closed the issue "because it's older than two weeks". I am at a loss as to why a great company like Amazon would try to a) scam me out of 170, and b) let an incompetent/inexperienced hire as Debbie in charge of such a crucial role as is customer support. My advice to Amazon - strongly reconsider both!

“Very Average”

Alexa is not the best for webmasters. Even for an average internet user, its stats are still very inadequate and not up-to-date. There are also varying inconsistencies (a website could be in the top 1 million today, only for it to completely drop off the grid tomorrow). Bottom line, Alexa can't be relied on to make any professional decisions. It's almost like a popularity contest instead of web analytics there

“This is probably one of the leading websites statistics...”

This is probably one of the leading websites statistics aggregators out there which does not install any code on your site. I use this as a beginning stage of research about my particular sites or competitor sites but I still take it with a grain of salt. I've looked at how they aggregate the data and it's not as accurate as you would like. They have to make a lot of compromises on the quality of the data and sample size because they are not all knowing. The fact that it is backed by Amazon both reassures me in knowing that the quality might be good but also scares me in that Amazon gets to know so much data about the entire Internet.

“Please dont subscribe this tool”

Had a horrible experience with these guys! We tried the tool for 7 days. Just that. And they took 30 days cost! The invoice was raised after 6 days and when we asked them, they told they cant refund it as we mailed them late. See, they were waiting for us to push them for refund, otherwise they will loot your money for no reason.

“This is a good place to see how a website is doing...”

This is a good place to see how a website is doing from a traffic standpoint as well as seeing what the most popular websites in the world and each country are. It's a great way to find a popular website that you have not checked out for some reason. Give it a try, it's worth checking out!

“This is not an independant review site, as it once...”

This is not an independant review site, as it once was. It now does nothing more than stroke the ego's of site owners. Some of the Sitejabber reviews of Alexa appear to have been made by Alexa employees, on viewing the content.

“Alexa is one of the worst sites ever”

Alexa is one of the worst sites ever. They deleted all the reviews that were on there. What's the point if they don't enforce the rules anyway. They never did. The site is extremely slow and the customer service is very poor. Don't waste your time with this site. That's about it. Tip for consumers:I prefer Site Jabber. They enforce the rules more, and it's not glitchy like this site. Service Value Quality

“Terrible Customer Service”

I'm subscribed to a trial, thought I cancelled, but it never completed. I never used the tool after the trial, but was charged three months, totaling $1000. They never called me back, won't put me on the phone with anyone and won't respond to my messages on their support site, facebook, or twitter. This is the most disrespectful company I've ever dealt with.

“Alexa is somewhat deaf”

The claims that Alexa hears you despite any ambient noise is patently false. She often is so deaf that even a well enunciated command to lower volume is rendered moot. I just read that one can also whisper to Alexa. That is truly a Trumpian prevarication since she barely hears my loud commands when any music is playing. Amazon can fix this and hopefully will.

“Used to be free, now you pay for inaccuracey”

Well, this site USED to actually provide helpful data but someone thought making millions wasn't enough and needed to make tens of millions or higher or got bored and now we have this... whatever it is. They are wholely inaccurate and are owned by Amazon, so they artificially boost their own companies. In my opinion, that is fraudulent.

“Terrible website, whatever you do, don't sign up to...”

Terrible website, whatever you do, don't sign up to it! Once you do you're not able to delete your account, no matter how much you request. The customer support is not just zero, it's minus. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

“A good website for market analysis”

A good website for market analysis. There is still scope for improvement as in the manner in which the websites are categorized can be improved and the UV and PV and other website traffic details can be elaborated further but its quite a handy tool

“Alexa reports out fraudulent data”

Nothing in or on alexa is accurate. Why use this site. It is owned by amazon and they use it to boost their and their affiliates rankings in search engines. Go to https://www.similarweb.com/ to get actual ranking data that is useful Tip for consumers:avoid Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Alexa.com”

I think that the most of these reviewers have Alexa.com confused the cloud-based voice service. Alexa.com is probably one of the most accurate and well-designed analytics platforms for market and small businesses looking to fuel their online presence. Alexa also has a good tools to analyze websites and also it has excellent tools to analyze websites. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Stupid timer”

This does not turn off when you tell it to. Sometimes it says that there's a problem but not what it is. It's dumber than Siri and that is extremely dumb. It's an expensive timer and thermometer that's not good to have around during a state of anger, irritation, or frustration. It doesn't provide music or bedtime stories without a subscription. We're unplugging both the echo and the dot and going back to the iPhone timer, microwave timer, and Bushnell's weather device.

“Super bad bad suggestions to kids of all things!”

Two commercials from alexa. One says act like you paid attention in class-ask alexa Other one says 3rd grade math is hard, ask Alexa. All I can say is wtf is the company thinking?! Making our kids stupid and cheating instead of actually learning and doing the work?! Alexa needs to go down! Value Quality

“What's good is not always popular, and what's popular...”

What's good is not always popular, and what's popular is not always good, but on the Internet, popularity and quality go are found together often enough. Alexa.com helps us find the most frequently visited sites in many categories.

“How to Improve Alexa Rank for a site?”

I am using all the tips like alexa toolbar, alexa widget, Regular posts, social Media sharing. Even I am getting much traffic to my site https://www.lallabi.com But from last few days I am loosing alexa ran? How I can improve again?

“I think Alexa is under develop overhyped over marketed stupidity! I hate it”

Am I was extremely disappointed. Alexa does what she wants to do. I asked her to go to bing The search browser. In the beginning she would do it no problem, then she started refusing to do it, And would only do the serch herself. Sometimes I'd ask her '15 times in a row to go to bing and she would refuse to do it I hate this I am about to take my amazon show and throw it!

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.

Are You the Owner of alexa.com?

If you own alexa.com, we’d love to hear from you. If you'd like to challenge the trust score we’ve assigned, we’re happy to take a closer look. However, please be prepared to provide solid proof of your business's legitimacy. Introduce yourself with your name (not just "Admin").

When domain owners contact us to dispute their trust score, we kindly ask for the following:

* Business documentation that verifies your legitimacy (e.g., certificate of incorporation, business registration, or official records with the site or business name).

* Your personal LinkedIn profile and the business's social media accounts (e.g., Facebook).

* If available, proof of satisfied customers (e.g., screenshots, not just testimonials on your website), evidence of inventory, or records of handling order cancellations properly.

We’re more than willing to update your review based on the evidence you provide—the more proof, the higher your trust score. Please note, however, that we cannot verify non-operational websites or those redirected to other URLs. Additionally, we do not verify websites involved in high-risk financial services, gambling, adult content, or illegal activities.

Please send the following via email to [email protected].
