Kik Freebie Scam

Kik Scams: How They Work Using Names Like KikBounty or KikGifts

Similar to some Tik Tok scams, this one works like the following scenario. You receive a text message on your mobile phone stating: "Kik has recently reached the incredible milestone of 100 million users! As a token of our appreciation, we are giving lucky users FREE gifts, and you have been selected! Visit to see what you have won! Prizes are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, so claim yours today!". The website provided could be a different one, such as,, or Most of the time, the scammer promises a free iPhone 11 phone

However, Kik actually has 300 million users, not 100, but the scam still goes on.

The Kik Freebie Promotion scam is a bogus campaign put together by crooks claiming to be from the real Kik company.

Once you click on the link, a one-page website pops up, inviting you to write your username, to see what you have won. Once there, it doesn't matter if you put "John" or "xvjnfdsbkj" - you will "qualify as our Platinum level prize winner." There may be additional names related to the award, such as KikBounty or KikGifts. What's next?

When you continue, you are required to download and open a free app (on our phone showed Expedia and Game of War as options). "After completion, this page will unlock," it says the message. Well, you download the app and wait...and wait... and nothing comes in. Some say the scammers get a referral fee for bringing downloads to specific apps.

What is Kik Messenger

The Kik Messenger, popularly referred to as Kik, is a free instant messaging app produced by a Canadian company Kik Interactive. This messaging app is still freely available for download on Android and iOS devices, despite rumors that it will be shut down. It is one of the most popular messaging platforms out there.

The main attraction of Kik, which differentiates it from other popular messaging platforms is its anonymity. To register for the platform, all a user needs to do is to input their email address, first name and last name, birth date (users are required to be at least 13 years or older to register for the platform), and select an appropriate username. The registration process does not compulsory request the input of a functional mobile phone number, although there is an option for you to do so.

Kik is a great place to interact, connect with friends, and share different types of information using great features, similar to the Whatsapp functions.

However, beware of other typical scams that users are susceptible to upon registration. Scammers on this platform usually employ different tactics, including blackmailing and catfishing - similar to the ones that were reported in Whatsapp, Tik Tok or Viber scams.
