Spying Texts App Scam

Spy Text App: How The Scam Works

Let's face it: if given the opportunity, most people would love nothing more than the ability to access the instant messages of their significant other, friends, family members and co-workers. We'll take a look at some spying devices later on in this article, but let's focus on the fraudulent practices first.

This week, a few overnight mobile apps claim to allow you to do the spying on your partner's text messages. However, you shouldn't only stay away from them because it is ethically questionable. The better reason to stay away is that these are not legitimate apps – they are just phishing scams designed to take advantage of your curious nature. You could be a victim of the Spy Text App Scam in many ways, whether you're trying to be the one spying on or just by being the one spied on. Let's take a look at a crazy and scary example.

Watch the video below to see how someone could use your smart home devices to spy on you:

A more significant problem occurs when you're trying to be the one spying. The scam begins with advertisements on social media sites offering these fictitious apps, having names similar to prominent ones. The first one that launched this scam trend was called WhatsAppSpy last summer.

Many have been taken in by the name alone as they believe it to be an affiliate of the instant messaging services WhatsApp. However, many criminals copied the style and created similar apps.

The advertisements claim to allow you to view other peoples' instant messages if you will go to a website and register for the app. Once you've signed up for the service you are then redirected to another website that asks for your phone number so a code can be texted to you, allowing you to download the app on your device.

Once you have entered your telephone number, what you have actually done is subscribed to a premium messaging service that will send you advertisements that cost anywhere from $2 to $10. The scammers earn money from this messaging service as a referral fee for every person that "signs up" for the service.

Spy on Text Messages Scam: How To Avoid

Be aware that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. No legitimate service will allow you access to others' private messages. Also, be suspicious of any service that has you sign up on one site and then directs you to another site altogether to complete the process.

This thing is not a typical way to sign up for any service. Registrations can almost always be completed on one site. If you are redirected to another site, this is a red flag. Finally, keep in mind that it's not nice to spy on others!

What Are The Best Spying Devices?

While spying on text messages is unethical, you could use specific devices to record and spy suspicious activity in your house, whether that's done by your life partner, nanny, or even children. The best gadget to do that it is the Spy Alarm Clock, which contains a HD camera filming in 1080P and looks precisely like any other alarm clock, only it has a spying camera implemented. It also comes with a free mobile app so you can check the footage at any time. You can buy the Spy Alarm Clock HERE.

Another couple of recommendations are the Photo Frame Spying Cam and the Smoke Detector Cam.
