How the scam works:

You decide to research your family roots and come across a website that will actually do it for you, as long as you provide all the necessary details. Most of these “family tree” providers are shameless scammers, charging a lot of money for results generated automatically by a software.

How to avoid:

Most of these scam sites have a small free sample test to lure people in. Submit a bogus name, such as Xy2x Yxyz – you’ll probably be amused to find that your imaginary character has their origins in Ireland.
