Cruise Worker Application

How the scam works:

You are looking for a job on a cruise ship, figuring that if you don't have to pay for living expenses, you'll be able to save some money. You find a position and apply for it; and are contacted a few days later. 


Excited, you open the email. It says that there are a high number of applicants for the job, but if you want a chance to possibly start right away, you will have to wire them a registration fee and expense charge. If you pay the money, you may not get to go on the cruise but you certainly got taken for a ride.

How to avoid:

This scam can happen for a variety of jobs, but it occurs most often with cruise positions. Simply put, if the company asks you to wire money, it's a good idea to move on and look for something else.
