Driver's License Verification

How the scam works:

The Driver’s License Verification scam reaches people through a link in their email and asks them to verify their license for some annual verification /update reason. The scammer pretends to be part of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), American Automobile Association (AAA), Canada Automobile Association (CAA), Alberta Motor Association (AMA) or whichever government automotive regulation agency the country in question has. This scam is intended to trick drivers into providing personal details.

This scam occurs mainly in the United Kingdom, though countries like the US, Canada, and Australia can also fall victim to it.

How to avoid:

Do not believe any email you receive that claims to be from a government source without first checking with the source it is claiming to be from. Do not give out personal information unless you are absolutely certain that it is a safe source.
