Flower Girl In China

How the scam works:

(with video below) The Flower Girl scam could happen to you in China in big touristy areas, in cities such as  Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Taipei, or Chengdu. You'll find young girls walking around with a handful of roses – whether fake or real- and they will target couples or even single women.

They walk up to you and physically grab you, usually the female's leg. They refuse to let go of the person until they receive money for the overpriced roses. Irritating, yet embarrassing, guys prefer to give them money just to move away, especially if they are on a romantic date.

The little girls, however, are being watched by their "handlers". Typically, a gang of unscrupulous people are around them, watching the girls how and who they chase. The members of these gangs are most likely family, whether they're siblings or nieces.

Sometimes you might have the gang people giving you the eye if you are trying to talk to the girls and tell her to get lost. Sometimes they even threaten you. They might even have five or six girls to supervise!

How to avoid:

Do not pay and tell the girls to leave. Don't be shy to "peel" them away from your leg. They are just little children and by giving them money you are encourage them and their gangs to keep doing what they're doing. Get your cell phone out and pretend to call the Police. They will disappear right away.
