Wells Fargo Account Lockdown

How the scam works:

(with scammers caught on tape) You may be receiving a phone call or text message one of these days claiming to be from Wells Fargo. It is an answering machine with a recorded message, informing that your account with the bank will be locked down.

You are then invited to call a number - latest used was (855) 804-8470 in order to resolve the matter. Once you call, you hear another automated system messsage asking you to press "1".

From there, you are asked to provide your Social Security Number, date of birth, address, credit card number with PIN, and other personal information that will lead to identity theft.

How to avoid:

It is a classic robo-call scam. Wells Fargo already confirmed that this call is not from them and the recipients should not call that number, which could be different every day.
