How the scam works:

(with video below) Watch out for the Balance Bracelet scam, aka the Hologram Bracelet or Strength Bracelet trick, exposed here with a video. The power balance bracelet that everyone believed in proved to have no scientific evidence that the wristband is effective. How does the scam work?

Balance Bracelet Scam Video

Questionable businesses manufacture and sell plastic wristbands with hologram stickers on them. These bracelets are advertised as providing better balance, strength and flexibility, by working in synergy with the wearer’s “natural energy field”.

You might have seen sales agents trying to sell you these power balance bracelets in any mall. They may be saying things like “the hologram on this strength bracelet is made out of negative titanium ions" or "let’s do the balance test”. In this test, the agent asks you to hold your arm horizontally straight in the air, while he/she tries to push it down as you fight to keep it up. In the first try (without the bracelet), the agent is successful, as you don't have enough strength to oppose his/her push. Miraculously, once he/she puts the bracelet on your wrist and tries to push your arm down again, you can keep it up, as if your strength has increased tremendously! Wanna know the secret? See below.

When you don't wear the bracelet, he pushes your forearm down by pressing closer to your wrist, which makes it easy to achieve the goal. When you wear the bracelet, he pushes on your elbow, which makes it almost impossible to get your arm down, since the elbow is closer to your gravity point. Try it at home!

Also known as Hologram Bracelets, Equilibrium Bracelets, or Strength Bracelets, these wonder-wristbands have been endorsed even by paid celebrities in the past. In reality, they are nothing but a scam, as there is no scientific proof of the benefits. See below.

How to avoid the Balance Bracelet scam:

These bracelets used to create a big debate between believers and critics until one of the makers of the most popular bracelets, PowerBracelet, admitted in 2011 the following: "there is no credible scientific evidence that supports our claims, and therefore we engaged in misleading conduct in breach of s52 of the Trade Practices Act 1974" (see image below). However, now the scam is back with new players.

If you watched the video above, you noticed how it is all about the Placebo effect. It's a mind game. If you believe in results, you’ll get the results by focusing your mind and body on them – it’s not because of a piece of plastic.
