How Thieves Steal Your Stuff Right From Under Your Nose

How The Scam Works:

(with video below) The Stolen Purchase Scam can separate you from some very expensive items before you even have time to enjoy them. It works like this: two partners, one outside the store you shop in and one inside, wait for you to pass by. Let’s say you make a big purchase in the store - such a huge HDTV or computer - and leave.

As you step outside the shop, you are stopped by the first scammer, who is dressed up as a security person holding a walkie-talkie. He says that he’s been told to hold you for a second. How does the scam work?

The second scammer, pretending to be a sales associate for the store you just left, comes out of the shop now. He tells you that you were given a defective TV/computer, and will provide you with the right one if you go with him back inside.

The scam is all set up now. You are urged to leave the TV with the ‘security man’ outside for a few moments and follow the ‘sales associate’ back inside. Once you do, the ‘sales associate’ goes back outside, saying he’ll be right back. However, he won’t be back.

As soon as he goes out the door, the scammer and his partner will leave with you brand new TV. The first scammer already put the TV in the back of a car and off they go.

How To Avoid The Stolen Purchase Scam:
